Being lesbian parents in Bozeman?

My partner and I are a lesbian couple (both 33F). We are starting the IVF process and ready to settle down and have kids. My parents live in Bozeman and we have some other family there too. I lived in Bozeman from 2011-2013 before I was out and don't remember it being particularly friendly to gay people but not homophobic either. We are currently living in Portland, OR and have no support system here and hate the gloomy winters. Lifestyle-wise I think Bozeman is perfect for us. We are outdoorsy, love to hike, etc.

Any LGBTQ people in this group, especially if you are a parent, that can weigh in on your overall experience? We don't want our kids to be bullied for having gay parents or feel ostracized from the community.

Where would you go to recover from burnout?

My partner and I (both 33F AuDHD) are both in deep burnout. We believe this is the “mega-burnout” that happened after years of being undiagnosed, ambitious people. We have both lost significant function and are having mental health problems.

We are currently living in the PNW and have struggled a lot with seasonal depression and lack of motivation. We feel like we need to go to a sunny place in order to get back to baseline. I luckily work a very chill remote job and she is a nurse so she can work anywhere. We have enough savings for her to take up to a year off.

So here’s the question — if you could go anywhere to chill out and recover from burnout, where would it be? Near family? Beach? Desert? Suburb/city/rural? We have been mostly city people but actually felt most regulated in the suburbs with lots of elbow room.

Also worth mentioning that we have moved a lot and are not that stressed out by the idea of moving again. It will be annoying but I think it is necessary.
