Hiring a LTD lawyer with SSDI, is payment based on gross or net amount?

Hello!

When retaining an LTD lawyer or hiring them for an appeal, is it common for the fees to be based on the gross or net amount of benefits? E.g, based on the total amount of disability benefits (gross) or just the amount LTD pays after factoring SSDI (net)?

Thank you!!!

Flock Surveillance and LTD

Hello everyone,

I don't mean to alarm anyone and really hoping a few LTD lawyers can step in here but I have been super concerned at the prospect of LTD companies using mass AI surveillance, such as flock, against us for LTD claims.

LTD companies already use their own surveillance techniques, usually when they know you have a doctors appt coming up etc, so it seems possible they might consider partnering with a massive surveillance company

Again, I don't mean to scare anyone! I really hope I am wrong.

Transplanted Zinnias and Snapdragons

Hello!
First time flower grower in 7b.

Any advice on these snaps and zinnias? Is it common for snaps to grow tall without thickening their stems? Any ideas on the cause of yellowing? I can rule out over watering, the soil I used is a potting mix. I did wait a bit long to transplant them and I am worried they have root bound. Is there still hope of flowering? Thank you!

Any advice appreciated. I believe these are from Johnny Seeds and the snaps are apple blossom.

Hiring a Lawyer After Appeal

Hello!
I recently won my appeal with an extremely knowledgeable lawyer and I would like to never deal directly with NYL again.

The lawyer I hired for the appeal charges $500/hr to represent me, not a set percentage of my monthly LTD amount. Hopefully NYL leaves me alone for awhile since I’m now past Any Occupation but I’m so frightened that they’ll try to do anything.

I have ME, POTs, MCAs, things that LTD companies love to tear down.

The lawyer explained that it is less expensive to pay only for hours needed and not every month, because there will hopefully be many months/years when NYL leaves me alone.

If there will be yearly reviews she would handle that, and god forbid another appeal!

Does anyone else pay a flat hourly fee for continued representation? Does this sound like a fair deal?

My conditions are nuanced and she is an expert and knows all my doctors and necessary medical testing as well as keeps up to date with all medical studies on my conditions. Her expertise is undeniable and I’d like to keep her. I’m just not sure what is “fair”/ less expensive or not.

Hoping this doesn’t ruffle any LTD lawyer feathers and I’d appreciate any insight!
