I’m honestly still kicking myself over how a hotel pricing algorithm completely drained my wallet for a trip I took in August. Back in July I booked a four-night hotel stay in Chicago for $1,100. The rates were heavily inflated because a massive tech convention was scheduled to take place in the downtown area during those exact dates.

Well, about a month before my trip, the convention organizers announced they were pushing the event back to the fall due to scheduling conflicts at the venue. With the convention crowd suddenly gone, the hotel's occupancy numbers cratered, and they aggressively dropped their rates to attract casual travelers. I checked their booking page, and the price for my exact room had collapsed to $870 total.

I called the front desk manager to see if they could adjust my bill to match the new market reality since the whole reason for the premium was gone. He told me that because I booked a guaranteed advanced-purchase rate, the system literally wouldn't let him modify the pricing structure. I felt completely scammed sleeping in a room that everyone else in the building got for over $200 less. Does anyone know of a reliable tool or an AI that actively monitors for these event-driven hotel price drops and handles the cancellation and re-booking loop for you?
