All of my parcels were shipped with 6-9 day shipping. The worst one so far I shipped one month ago, and has not moved from ‘arrived at the warehouse’ 2 weeks ago. When they come to this stage they just don’t seem to move and gt buy don’t seem to help either. They won’t tell me who is the ‘warehouse’ so I can get it sorted from here.
Hi. I thought I would post in here as I have been in my head for weeks.
3.5 weeks ago I bumped into another car, at 1 mph. I passed about 6 months ago, have only driven one manual car, a car crashed into me very badly and since I’ve had an automatic courtesy car. On the first day of having the courtesy, I was at a junction, lifted my foot of the break, not realising this car doesn’t have auto hold, and bumped into the car in front very slightly.
My car has a small paint scratch, which I will obviously have to pay for. The woman got out the car, we exchanged phone numbers, I told her that it was a courtesy and massively apologised. She said “don’t worry these things happen, my car looks much worse than hers”
1 week goes by until I get a message. She says along the lines of she knows I have a courtesy car so they will cover damage, but she is happy to do this privately. With it being so minor, I said yeah let’s do it private, just send me the cost if there’s any damage and il pay. Looking at her car, initially I thought there was no damage, so thought I’d probs just pay her some money for the hassle.
She goes quiet for 1 week then texts me (2 weeks after bump), saying looks like minor damage, she will have a quote today. She then told me the garage told her it could be upwards of 1k, as the crash bar may be damaged. This surprised me as I had just been crashed into at 25 mph, with a lot more impact, and my crash bar was fine.
Thinking this seemed very excessive, I said to her this seems extreme, can you verify this before I pay that kind of money. She says yeah she thought that seemed very high too, and she is going to get a quote from a body shop she knows which is knowing to be very competitive.
We are now 10 days later and I haven’t heard anything from her. I don’t know if she was just trying to scare me or get me to pay up, or if she’s went to insurance. Obviously ideally I want this done private to save my future insurance.
It’s really all I have thought about for the last 3 weeks and I would just like to know the situation and deal with it before I hand the courtesy back.
I suppose I am just looking for some words of wisdom / advice here.
I am 24, and up till now, life has been great and everything has went to plan. Happy, engaged, great job, house etc. I’ve worked very hard.
But, this last month has tested me like no other.
First off. I was driving and one of my tires popped. No big deal, moved on.
1 week later, I’m driving; the other tire pops. This time I was doing delivery work (second job to pay my wedding). I had to get recovery, which was very expensive.
Within 1 week of this, my dad died.
Less than 1 week after this, someone crashed into the back of my car at high speed, severely damaging my car and injuring me slightly.
I was given a courtesy car, which operates different to my usual car. At a junction, I took my foot off the break, forgetting this car didn’t have autohold like the other car, and then boom, the car bumps into the car in front . I spoke with the lady, apologised deeply and said if any issues, let me know and il pay. Weekend goes by and nothing. It looked like no damage on her end (some scratches in mine) so I thought yeah she has just left it. Long paragraph tonight. I think she’s either gonna screw me financially or to insurance. I have pleaded essentially for me to foot any bill and extra because as a driver that hasn’t been passed a year, and has been involved in 2 accidents in 3 weeks, I think my insurance are gonna go through me.
In the meantime, I’m studying for my last 2 chartered accountant exams, and am transitioning from a job I hated, to a new job.
I have kept picking myself up and putting on a brave face. But I just feel empty now. Like no matter what I touch, it becomes a mess. I can’t focus, sleep or anything.
I know this a temporary rough patch, but I’m struggling.
Hi everyone, looking for some advice on a career move.
I’m almost qualified as a CA (2 exams left) and currently work at Forvis Mazars. I just received a job offer from Saffery for essentially the same pay, and I’m trying to decide if I should make the jump.
The Situation at Mazars:
Firm Outlook & Progression: A recent CEO broadcast hinted at upcoming redundancies, and the firm seems to be on a downward trajectory. Promotion opportunities look frozen. the last post-qualified promotion in my team was 4 years ago.
Workload & Culture: For the last 2.5 years, I’ve been consistently assigned poor clients and notoriously bad jobs. I feel completely unchallenged and don't feel part of a team. There's also a strong culture of being left out/disrespected if you don’t attend socials.
Management Vibe: It feels a bit like being treated like a child. For example, I lost my office pass 9 months ago while moving house, and they still refuse to issue me a new one, even though others have received replacements.
The Saffery Offer:
From meeting the partners, the environment appears much more positive and growth-oriented.
They have managers in their 20s and partners in their 30s, giving the impression that they are actually investing in their people and expanding.
With only 3 months left until I qualify, should I take the switch now while the offer is there, or stick it out? Has anyone made a similar move or have insights on Saffery's culture?
