I bought a 1969 CT90 and was wondering if there are differences in the forks between the 1969 and the later models as they need rebuilt and I am having trouble finding info. Any wisdom is appreciated.

Last night I got a call from my buddy, he got his jeep stuck. I told him I’d come pull him out so I headed that direction. It’s worth noting my pickup is an unfinished project I had just bought and I only drove it because I had no other vehicle that could get to the jeep. It was around 11 pm at this point. On the way there my engine brake turned on and my pickup started blowing black smoke and was rather loud. I was unaware it was even equipped with one so I pulled off to a dead side road to figure out how to turn it off. I can only assume I pissed someone off because 20 minutes later I get pulled over and the officer says I was reported passing at high speeds, driving in the oncoming lane and going off the road near the location this happened. However, I had not passed a single vehicle, thought I was going the speed limit, and was swerving off the road. It turns out my speedometer is off by 5mph and the reason for the stop was “driving 43 in a 35” so I was speeding I little bit. I was issued a field sobriety test(I was 100% sober). Either way I am now facing reckless driving charges filed by the person that reported me. I wasn’t issued a ticket, just the reckless driving citation based on a fabricated story and I honestly don’t know what I should do.
