I dished out the $40 to try Sollos for the first time.

I was skeptical at first. It being Barron Trumps really set me apart but I decided to go beyond my first impression.

I sighed opening the can but first sip I was actually shocked. I really was not expecting to like it. Trust me - I really was not. It wasn’t too overwhelming, doesn’t taste “fake” or artificial, and overall pretty refreshing. Flavors blend very well together. Actually would pair really well with a tequila for an alternative vodka red bull type of alcoholic drink.

My only complaints is the smell but also could be user error. Mine smelled like sunscreen but I was also getting ready to go to the beach - so totally could be on me. Sort of bland and could amp up the sweet factor but again, also could just be me.

Yet I do not think it represents the right thing. Yerba mate is apart of a greater culture beyond “south florida”. I don’t like how the Trumps are involved especially as a co-founder to promote such a culturally-established drink.

However, I will admit when something tastes good.

If you are like me and were skeptical I suggest you go out and at least try it yourself. If you don’t like it - to each their own- but everything is worth a try once.

Would I buy it again: Yes but only when I’m out probably. I don’t know if I would spend $40 for a pack.
