Capcom FY2026Q1: Console Sales Are 83% Digital, 17% Physical

Just wanted to point this out since the data shared in the other thread includes PC, which accounts for about 60% of all units sold according to the report.

The other 40% of the sales were on console (32.9% digital, 6.7% physical). If you extrapolate that makes for 17% physical sales overall on consoles.

Rather than some game changing new info, this data is broadly in line with previous reports of around 20% physical sales share on consoles.

A large majority (83%) of PS5 discs don’t require any internet connection or download to install. You can install and play completely offline.

This website keeps track of all the physical games across all platform that require internet connection or download to play. PS5 discs are sitting at 83% no download required.

There’s a narrative out there that most discs are just licenses for download. The opposite is true. Most discs have the full game on them, a small percentage of them are just licenses to download the games.
