Can a DNR be overridden by a health care agent if the LO has moderate stage dementia?

Sorry if this has been already asked. Could you share the link for the answers if so?

My mom 87 who is at moderate stages of dementia when she was more lucid and hospitalized following a seizure asked to go full code.

As her health care proxy, I was against it but felt under pressure to agree bc my brother the POA was there. Now I am worrying during the next crisis (she had a stroke in May) that doctors / EMTs will take such measures that only increase her suffering. She does not want to suffer. I know we talked about this over the decades when she was well.

I also know she doesn’t want to leave us.

As her health care proxy can I override her MOLST and change it to DNR? Do I need her to sign off? I know she hates hospitals, conceptually wants to die at home, she hates needles. Why would I subject her to cracking her ribs with CPR and all the rest.

This keeps me up at night.

EDIT Documents from 2019 name me as her health care agent, but her MOLST from 2026
says that she is NOT DNR.

As far as I can tell, my authority on this matter is minimal??

Cat Boarding Recs in the metro Boston area?

Hi, my flair options were limited here, so this is a question about cat boarding in the metro Boston area. Last question on this dates back to years ago and things change a lot!

In brief, I'm checking here for your up to date cat boarding recommendations.

We used to use Home Away From Home in Southern MA, but they decided to stop boarding cats and focus entirely on dogs. Too bad, because they were very kind to our anxious tiger kitty and brought out the gentle and tender side that we know and love.

We used Chez Mieux in Natick a couple of years ago, but they were very brusque with us, not animal-friendly people e.g. seemed put out and very annoyed to have boarded our cat.

Failing any recs, I have also heard of engaging people from care dot com -- anyone have good experiences there?

THANK YOU EVERYONE for all your suggestions. Loads of great advice in this subreddit!! We will definitely look into Rover et al. Many thanks 🐈🐈🐈

Sturdy toilet rail recommendations

Dear everyone,

Did a search but didn't see this question in the subreddit. However, if I missed a post about this, please let me know.

My mom recently fell off the toilet. The toilet guard rail screws were loose and came away from the porcelain despite my efforts to tighten the (plastic-- ugh) screws - Thank god, she is okay! We ran in immediately to help her get off the ground and we got her checked out by urgent care.

I'd include the link to the one we bought here, but it no longer exists on Amazon (ugh, I hated using Amazon for this and of course, the fact the link has expired is probably an indication of the quality of the toilet rail)

Can anyone recommend one that has really stood up over the years. The one she is using is a year and a half old and I think it worth switching it out.

Or maybe there is no such thing as quality, and I just need to check the screws every few days?

Also, I recognize that falls will be par the course since her balance isn't great, but I'm hoping I can make it more safe for her to get up and down. Thank you big.
