What’s the rarest or most expensive racquet you own? How did you get it?

What’s the rarest or most expensive racquet you own? How did you get it?

I was sorting my racquet database by price and ended up going down a rabbit hole of rare and limited-edition racquets.

I know there are some seriously limited ones out there:

The Dunlop The Legend 尊龙传奇 was limited to 1,000,

The Head Radical MP Zhizhen Zhang 奋进 was limited to just 188.

The Yonex EZONE 98 Gen6 Naomi Osaka x Takashi Murakami ‑ 2021 was limited to just 50.

What’s the rarest or most expensive racquet you own? Where/how did you get it?

Would love to see some pictures too!

I bought two counterfeit Babolat Pure Aero Rafa Gen2 racquets on eBay — here’s how I found out

I recently found out that two Babolat Pure Aero Rafa Gen2 racquets I bought from an eBay seller are not authentic.

The two suspected racquets are both Grip 2 (G2), and my wife had been the one playing with them. I normally played with my Grip 3 (G3) Pure Aero Rafa Gen2, which I purchased from Midwest Sports and knew was authentic.

Because we were using different grip sizes, I hadn't really played with the two G2 racquets myself and never noticed anything unusual about them.

Recently, I started using one of the G2 racquets, and almost immediately something felt wrong. The balance felt noticeably different from my G3 — especially how head-heavy it felt.

That was what made me suspicious. I brought out my authentic G3 and started comparing the three racquets side by side. Once I did that, the differences became much more obvious.

I also brought the racquets to a local tennis shop and had them inspected in person. After comparing the frames and taking measurements, the shop agreed that the two racquets from the eBay seller were not authentic Pure Aero Rafa Gen2s.

I took these photos to document some of the differences.

1. Barcode / serial label

The barcode labels are noticeably different.

The authentic racquet purchased from Midwest Sports has a different label design, font, barcode presentation, and serial-number format compared with the two racquets I received from the eBay seller.

By itself, I probably wouldn't use a sticker as proof that a racquet is fake, but combined with everything else, it was another obvious difference.

2. Paint color

This is one of the easiest differences to see in person.

The two eBay racquets have a noticeably deeper/darker pink, while the authentic Pure Aero Rafa has a lighter pink finish.

The difference is quite obvious when the racquets are placed next to each other under the same lighting.

3. Grip-size marking

The grip-size stickers/markings are also different.

The appearance and placement don't match the authentic racquet.

Again, this isn't something I would use by itself to determine authenticity, but it adds to the list of inconsistencies.

4. Frame construction and beam measurements

This was much more important to me than the cosmetic differences.

The local tennis shop compared the racquets and found that the beam measurements were different from the authentic Pure Aero Rafa Gen2. There are also noticeable differences in the frame construction and finish when the racquets are viewed side by side.

I originally thought the differences might just be paint or manufacturing variation, but different physical dimensions are obviously much harder to explain that way.

5. Butt cap

The butt caps look fairly similar at first glance, but once they are placed directly next to each other, there are several differences in the molding, markings, edges, and overall construction.

These are small details that would probably be very easy to miss if you didn't have an authentic racquet next to the suspected one.

Interestingly, though, the two counterfeit racquets actually don't play like cheap racquets.

Their feel is surprisingly decent. If I didn't have an authentic Pure Aero Rafa to compare them with, I'm not sure I would have suspected they were counterfeit based purely on how they played.

The person at the local tennis shop said the frames looked/felt like they might be based on an older AeroPro Drive mold.

I can't verify that, though, and I also have no way of knowing exactly what mold, layup, graphite, or other materials were actually used to manufacture them.

So I don't want to speculate too much about what these racquets actually are.

The only thing I can say with confidence is that they are not authentic Babolat Pure Aero Rafa Gen2 racquets.

That's probably the biggest thing I learned from this experience: a counterfeit racquet doesn't necessarily have to feel like a $20 department-store racquet.

These two actually feel completely playable.

The problem is that they were sold as Babolat Pure Aero Rafa Gen2s, and that's not what they are.

Looking at all three racquets together makes the differences much easier to see, but I can also understand how someone buying one online without having an authentic example next to it could easily miss them.

I'm posting these comparison photos because hopefully they'll help someone else who is buying a Pure Aero Rafa — or any used racquet — from eBay or another marketplace.

If something seems wrong with the balance, weight, paint, barcode label, butt cap, grip markings, frame shape, or beam dimensions, it's probably worth comparing it directly with a known authentic racquet or taking it to a reputable tennis shop.

And if anyone here owns an authentic Pure Aero Rafa Gen2 and notices any other differences in these photos, I'd be interested to hear what you see.

Looking for a front-view photo of the Naomi Osaka Sakura EZONE 🎾🌸

Hi everyone!

I'm the creator of Find-My-Racquet, a free online racquet database, and I'm trying to document every Naomi Osaka signature racquet because I absolutely love her paint jobs.

The Naomi Osaka × Takashi Murakami flower-covered EZONE is one of the rarest racquets ever made. Since it was never sold at retail (only a limited number were auctioned), it's been incredibly difficult to find a proper straight-on front-view photo.

If anyone here is lucky enough to own one, would you be willing to take a front-view picture of the racquet (full frame if possible, no need for anything fancy)? It would be used only as the catalog image on Find-My-Racquet, with full credit if you'd like.

I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you so much! 🙏🌸

Self-taught serve stuck at 100 mph

I've always been self-taught and never had any formal coaching.

My flat serve has been stuck at around 100 mph for a year now, and I'm not sure what I should work on to break through that plateau.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Who’s your favorite player, and what gear do they actually use?

I’m trying to collect more reliable pro player gear info, especially racquets, strings, shoes, bags, apparel, and other equipment.

Fans often know the little details about their favorite players better than anyone else, so I thought this sub might be the best place to ask.

Here is the list I’m working on:
https://www.find-my-racquet.com/TennisProPicks

Mobile works too, but PC is much easier.

You can search for your favorite player on the page, click their card, and check their current gear info.

If your favorite player is already on the list but missing detailed gear info, I’d really appreciate any reliable source you can share.

If your favorite player is not on the list yet, feel free to drop their setup too.

Drop a reliable source, and if I can verify it, there’s a good chance your favorite player’s gear info will make it onto the page.

Example format:

Player: Novak Djokovic
Racquet: Head Speed Pro / pro stock setup
Strings: Babolat VS Touch / Luxilon ALU Power
Shoes: Asics Court FF
Bag: Head Pro X XL
Apparel: Lacoste
Source: link / match photo / interview / article / official page / forum discussion with evidence

No “trust me bro” sources please 😅

Partial info is totally fine too. Even just “Player + racquet + source” helps.

I’ll verify everything before adding it, since sponsor pages, paintjobs, and old photos can be misleading.

Bonus points for lesser-known ATP/WTA players. The big names are usually easier to research, but the deeper cuts are where the data gets really interesting.

Find where pro players' gear is on sale.

US only (for now).

FYI, a lot of racquets and gear went on sale today for the July 4 sales.

I got tired of checking different tennis stores every time, so I made a page that tracks deals and compares prices across Midwest, Tennis Express, and Do It Tennis, so you don't have to check each store manually.

Maybe it'll save someone a few bucks.

BTW, if you have a reliable source for your favorite player's gear, let me know and I'll add it so everyone can track their gear and current deals.

Use this racquet and become World No.1.

Every racquet on this list has produced at least one World No.1.

Pure Drive produced 4.

EZONE 100 produced 3.

Therefore, switching to one of these racquets statistically increases your chances of becoming World No.1.

Science. 📈🤓

It's the racquet. Always has been.

Every Career Grand Slam winner since 1988, along with the racquets they used.

Completing the Career Grand Slam is one of the rarest achievements in tennis. I put together every winner since 1988, along with the racquets they used throughout their careers.

I started with 1988 because it marked one of the greatest seasons the sport has ever seen. Steffi Graf won all four Grand Slam singles titles and then capped it off with Olympic gold in Seoul, becoming the only player in history to achieve the Golden Slam in a single calendar year. Since then, only eight single players have managed to complete the Career Grand Slam, but no one has matched Graf's 1988 feat.

Has anyone below 4.0 actually enjoyed playing with Federer or Nadal signature racquets?

https://preview.redd.it/lwj6qcj02q9h1.png?width=1109&format=png&auto=webp&s=3030a871d04a43264eab47119861bdc45082303c

I was putting together a page of official player editions and realized how many iconic paint jobs these two have had over the years lol.

I'm curious about real playing experiences rather than just collecting.

If you've used any of Roger's or Rafa's signature racquets:

  • Which model was it?
  • What level are you (NTRP/UTR/USTA)?
  • What kind of player are you (baseliner, all-court, serve & volley, etc.)?
  • Did you actually like it, or was it too demanding?

I'm especially interested in how these racquets perform for club players rather than pros.

Do you own a signature racquet? What's your favorite model?

I put together a list of signature racquets used or endorsed by ATP and WTA players.

Personally, I think the Yonex EZONE 100 Osaka 2022 is one of the most beautiful ones. My second favorite is the Pure Aero Rafa. I liked it so much that I made the very responsible financial decision of buying five of them.

What’s your favorite signature racquet? And do you actually play with yours, or you just buy for collection purpose?

If you own one, share your best photo.

Here's the site if anyone want to play around:

Osaka Limited Edition 2022 or 2020

I think the 2022 Osaka Limited Edition is the best looking Yonex racquet ever made.

The dragon-inspired design, black base, and gold accents just look incredible. Every time I see one, it feels more like a collector's piece than a tennis racquet.

I put the 2020 and 2022 Osaka Editions side by side here:

Which one do you prefer?
