What underrated piece of equipment should more people try?

One multifilament string I've only seen 2 posts ever online is Volkl V-Feel, confusingly named the same as one of their racquets so hard to search for online. One of the two posts said it was too stiff but it feels super soft to me, and with as much spin as a poly I forget I'm playing with a multifilament!

Could you please tell me about this racket?

Mentioned wanting to get into tennis, and was given this, basically new, racket. I don’t know much about it, but have hit with it twice.
I’m quite a sporty person, I’ve played badminton, basketball (for high school team), and done various other sports over time.
I’d say I’m decent enough at tennis to be able to suffice rallies, and should easily be able to learn tennis specific techniques.
I’m a 26 year old male, about 176cm, 68 kg.
Hoping some of you could help give me insights about this racket, what it’s good/bad for, and whether I should purchase another one instead.

What is your current set up and why?

Since the start of this year I've been using the 2022 TF40 305 16x19, with Volkl V-feel at 53lbs, and Babolat Pro Response overgrips.

About to try new tennis balls too; Technifibre Soft and Yonex championship! What is your go to at the moment?

IRL Stats - Vcore 100 (2026), Ezone 100 (2020), Pure Strike 100 16x20 (2024), Speed MP (2024)

For those who, like me, are very curious about stats. I've measured the swingweight with a 240fps camera so it is decently accurate.

The bands here are Babolat silicone bands that go at the top of the overgrip. They weigh about 2g or slightly under. Overgrip is about 5g. Overall, 16x19 1.25 strings + overgrip add about 24g.

I have not measured the Flexibility and have simply used the stats provided by TennisWarehouse.

Yonex Ezone 100 16x19 2020

  • Weight: 326g (strings + overgrip + band), 324g without band
  • Swingweight: 324sw (s+o+b)
  • Balance: 32.8cm
  • Flexibility: 69 RA (stiff)
  • Depolarized (newer Ezones seem much more depolarized)

Yonex Vcore 100 16x19 2026

  • Weight: 324g (strings + overgrip), exactly 300g factory weight
  • Swingweight: 326sw (s+o)
  • Balance: 32.8cm
  • Flexibility: 65 RA (medium-stiff)
  • Polarized

Head Speed MP 100 16x19 2024

  • Weight: 327g (s+o+b)
  • Swingweight: 331sw (s+o+b)
  • Balance: 32.9cm
  • Flexibility: 60 RA (medium)
  • Well Polarized

Babolat Pure Strike 100 16x20 2024

  • Weight: 328g (s+o+b)
  • Swingweight: 324sw (s+o+b)
  • Balance: 32.1cm
  • Flexibility: 61 RA (medium)
  • Well Depolarized

The Speed MP is quite heavier than the TW ones (they had it at 315g strung. Mine is about 320g. The swingweight seems to match, though).

The Pure Strike 16x20 is slightly lighter, but has a higher swingweight. That might just be because of the overgrip and band - since this racquet has a lower balance and is well depolarized, those may affect the SW more vs how little they affect the Speed MP or Vcore.

I have weighed the Vcore as it came from the factory (exactly 300g), but have not measured its swingweight at that point. My assumption is it would match the 325sw from TW without the overgrip, which means it is adding only about 1sw to polarized racquets like the Vcore and the Speed MP.

In terms of string pattern it seems to go: Speed MP (most open) > Vcore 100 > Ezone 100 > Pure Strike 16x20 (least open)

Blade v10 vs Whiteout V2

Anyone played with Wilson Blade V10 18x20 and Solinco Whiteout V2 18x20 give me a comparison?

Context: I’m ex D1 player still playing with Blade V8 18x20. Getting older. Racket is demanding. And really I’m bored. Tried making switch to new pure Aero 98 like all the cool kids do. But really didnt gel with it. Wanting to play with something a little more fun. Thinking Whiteout 18x20 might be a good move. Thoughts?

Buying a racquet I've never demoed

Hi everyone.

I have been in racquet research frenzy for some time as I am trying to replace my old Head Prestige Flexpoint. I don't have too many options for demoing racquets in my location but I've managed to demo a few but did not find one that I felt was exactly what I was looking for. At this rate I will never decide and I am thinking of just buying the new VCore 95 which I've never (and can't) demo.

I feel like whatever I end up buying I will have to adapt to it anyway and on paper this seems to be close to what I am looking for. For context, I would like a more modern players racquet that gives you a bit of power and spin. I demoed 100sq and 98sq racquets and prefered the 98s as expected as my Prestige is 93sq, 320g. Demoed a Blade 98, and Gravity Tour and Speed Pro - not impressed. I enjoyed the new PureAero 98 but I could not keep the ball in with flat shots. Enjoyed the Ezone98 but felt too muted. Enjoyed the Percept97d but felt a bit chunky.

Would it be stupid to buy the VCore 95 having never tested it? Long post but appreciate any feedback.

Good Beginner Racquets Under $200

Hello! I am looking for suggestions for a good beginner tennis racquet for my girlfriend that is under $200.

My girlfriend recently started showing interest in taking tennis lessons and I want to get her a decent, but affordable, starter racquet. She’s a complete beginner and hasn’t really played much before.

Also curious if it’s better to buy something cheaper first vs getting a nicer racquet right away.
Any specific brands, models, grip size advice, or things to avoid for beginners would help a lot. Thanks!

Am I limiting myself by using a small racket?

Hey, I've been trying to do some research around but I haven't seen a clear or specific answer to this situation.

For some background, I have been playing for a while now, since late 2019/early 2020 (3 years of high school tennis seasons, 3 years break, 1 year at least once weekly until present), and pretty much all of that aside from the first 2-3 months were with the 2020 Head Graphene 360+ Prestige Mid, after demoing it among an assortment of others with my high school team. I honestly have no idea what my rating would be, but probably around a 3.0 NTRP? I'd love to get rated at some point soon.

Edit: Here is a more detailed specs page. https://racketlogger.com/racket/head/graphene-360--prestige-mid For strings, I know that I last used Hawk Touch 17 strung at 60lbs and I think I currently have something similar, after getting it restrung recently following a mis-hit break. (These are unfortunately more common than they should be for me)

It's been a ton of fun to use, I enjoy it, and I don't have any conscious/active issues with it. However, it has a 93" head size, and is pretty heavy, as far as I can find. Since my break, my fitness isn't exactly where it used to be, and it certainly has been pretty tiring to play continuously.

Therefore, I'm wondering if I should consider choosing a different racket, maybe one that'd be lighter and more forgiving. As in the title, I'm wondering if I'm actually limiting myself and my growth by using something this small and heavy, rather than accelerating or improving my technique like it was intended to -- at least, at this point, after using it for so long.

I've commonly seen that strings should be considered first when trying to change your setup, but is that still the case when head size and weight are what I'm considering to be impacting me?

I've also heard that there's not as much of a reason to go out and buy something new when you could just practice and work on your game, and/or if your current racket is working for you.

Even with those in mind, I'm just not sure what to think regarding my situation. I can't find anything more than very sparse posts or videos with/talking about rackets as small as this, so it's been hard to figure out of my own.

I need to figure out what my current racket is and isn't doing for me (considering that I do really enjoy using it), and if something else is genuinely worth considering. I hope you all can help me with answering that question!

I love the control and feel of my racket, so if I were to try something else, I'd still start with those things in mind. 98" rackets in the low 300g range, like the TFIGHT 305S, Gravity Tour, Blade 98, and Pure Aero 98 would be what I'd be looking to demo in the future. The TFIGHT 305S in particular looks incredibly fun and perfectly up my alley.

Thanks everyone! Bonus thank you to the TennCom guys, I've been enjoying exploring the channel lately! C:

Vcore 95

I’m a 3.0 (maybe a 3.5 on a good day) and I know I have no business using this racquet but making contact with the sweet spot is so damn intoxicating. if you’re a OHBH player, this racquet is a dream to wield!

Anyhow, I added 3g @12 and a leather grip and here are my specs:

-Static Weight: 343.6g

-Swing Weight: 328.04

-Balance Weight: 31.3cm / 9 HL

If you have this racquet, what specs/strings are you using?

Opinion on grip size?

So my demo rackets came in today. I originally tried to get one of them with a 4 3/8 grip to see how it is vs a 4 1/4 but they didn't have that in stock. Not sure what grip size I am.

My dilemma is that the racket I want to get (boom from last year with the US open colorway) is only available in the 4 3/8 size unless I get the lite version which they have in the 4 1/4.

Obviously I'll hit with those frames to see how it feels but is there a way to tell just by looking? I'd hate to get one with a bigger size grip and it be an issue. Or I suppose I could try and get one on ebay used with the smaller grip.

Which racket to buy?

Hello guys, I've been playing tennis for almost 01 year and until today I'm with the HEAD EXTREME MP 2021. I bought the Yonex enzone 100 and I couldn't adapt. Now I'm between two options, HEAD SPEED MP 2026 and BABOLAT PURE AERO 2026. What do you think? I'm very afraid about the babolat pure aero because I see many people complaining about elbow injuries, caused by the stiffness of this racket. Do you think I would have a hard time getting out of head extreme and going to head SPEED?
