Ezone 100L feels a little muted—restring Velocity MLT or try something new?

Hi! I started playing tennis about a year ago and I’m currently using a Yonex Ezone 100L strung with Head Velocity MLT 16 at 53 lbs. Overall, I really love the racket and have been very happy with this setup.

As I’ve improved and started playing at a slightly higher level, though, I’ve noticed a couple of things. I still love the control, but sometimes the racket/string setup feels a little muted. I’d like just a little more effortless or “seamless” power—basically for the ball to come off the strings a little more easily—but I definitely don’t want so much added power that I lose control.

I also feel like I’d like a little more out of the setup on serves. I honestly have a hard time describing exactly what feels missing there, but it just doesn’t feel quite as responsive or satisfying when serving as I’d like.

For reference, before the Ezone I used a Head Ti.S6, and I like the Ezone WAY more, so I’m not really looking to move away from this racket.

Recently, though, I tried my son’s Babolat Pure Aero, which was strung with Babolat Addixion 16. I’m not interested in switching to the Pure Aero itself—the smaller/more demanding sweet spot isn’t really what I’m looking for—but I did really like the feel of the Addixion strings. That got me wondering whether what I’m noticing with my Ezone is more about the strings than the racket.

So I have two main questions:

  1. Could my current strings simply be due for a restring?

I believe I last had the racket restrung in May 2026. I play about 3–4 times per week in a 2.0 class, mostly drills with around 15–30 minutes of actual point/play time, and I usually rally with my family about once a week as well.

I’ve attached photos of the strings in case there are any visual signs of wear or tension loss that I’m missing.

  1. Or might I be ready for a slightly different string setup?

One important factor is comfort. I have bilateral carpal tunnel, so I want to stay with something very arm/wrist friendly. My current Velocity MLT setup has caused me absolutely no wrist, elbow, or shoulder pain, which is a huge plus and something I really don’t want to sacrifice.

Ideally, I’m looking for a string/setup that:

-Keeps very good control
-Remains comfortable and arm/wrist friendly
-Gives me just a little more easy/seamless power
-Feels a little less muted and a little more responsive
-Possibly feels better or gives me a little more help on serve
-Does NOT become overly powerful or hard to control

Would you first restring the Velocity MLT and see how it feels fresh again, or would you try something different? And if you would change strings, what would you recommend for the Ezone 100L?

Thanks in advance!
