Prior to the latest patch, for my solo HoE runs with Engi I would run contek for first 1-2 rounds followed by the bonebreaker until boss round. Both with explosive rounds and utilizing full blast perk. Since both the perk and explosive rounds were nerfed some, wasn’t sure if perhaps scatter plot perk with buckshot on contek, incinderary rounds on bonebreaker was now better? Explosive rounds still good? Or do people use other weapons for rounds 3-5? I tend to have the most issue on round 5 with groups of fleshpounds/scrakes. Appreciate any advice and suggested weapon builds!

This has always bothered me. I’ve seen it discussed to some extent in prior posts, but figured would make my own discussion to try to get a definitive answer.

The fact Cthulhu was awakened at all would lead me to believe “the stars were right” or “aligned” for his awakening. My understanding is that he otherwise cannot awaken at all.

So then, why did he return to his slumber and Rlyeh sink again? Why did he not proceed with his take over of Earth? I’m not sure the stars can be “partially aligned” is a good explanation. Was the large earthquake a freak incident which happened to rise Rlyeh temporarily and allow a temporary awakening? Or do the stars have to be both aligned AND cultists must complete a ritual for him to be fully awakened/return? The cultists on the boat which was overtaken by the sailors were clearly on their way to Rlyeh. Had they made it and performed a ritual, would he have been fully awakened?

I wasn’t sure if there was ever a formal answer from Lovecraft himself and curious on what others think! Thanks!

What have you been using, both gun and ammo type, to best deal with both fleshpounds and scrakes? Moving into rounds 3-5 where numbers drastically increase, curious what to focus on. Wasn’t sure if the new sonar tracer rounds, vs armor piercing would be ideal to tackle both? Thanks in advance!

Looking at patch notes, seems like explosive ammo took a nerf (decreased critical hit chance) and engineers perk “full blast” was also nerfed. Anyone play around with this yet? Wondering if the explosive rounds on contek and bonebreaker may not be as good, and if makes more sense to switch over to “scatter plot” perk and incinderary rounds on bonebreaker or buckshot dragons breath?

Very late to joining the game, but super excited. Wanted to ask what is one of the best archetypes to start with, specifically working toward end game content. Hoping to avoid having to go back later on and re-start for a stronger build if possible. Thanks very much in advance!

Been having a blast against spore strain this time around. D10 spawns are chaotic but fun. Dusted off the ol scythe and man is it fun against this strain. Pairing it with guard dog rover, you’re just a walking laser beam cooking bugs. And the fire side effect does not cause the speed burst cloud obviously. If you’re having some trouble against this strain, want to try a new play style or just want to give the scythe another try, this is the time. Side note, I’m happy this strain has given the scythe another place to shine!

Long time sci fi military/alien reader. Especially the concept of super soldiers, power suites etc to help turn the tide of battle. Finally got around to reading Armor after seeing it recommended multiple times. And my goodness, did I love this book. Following the journey and development of Felix as a fresh recruit to a hardened veteran, battling his way through swarms of the alien Ant menace, what a ride. For anyone who enjoys military sci fi, man vs hordes/swarms of enemies, or in general a decent book with a deeper meaning, I highly recommend. Just wanted to put it out there and hopefully introduce someone else to the book in the hopes they enjoy it as much as I did.

For those who have read it (possible spoiler):

>!Although I understand the middle part of the story focusing on Jack Crow may be a bit dry at times and perhaps a little unnecessarily drawn out, I do understand its purpose. It really helps the reader to shift their focus off Felix for a bit and really distances Lewis, the drunken cowboy, from the military machine warrior dropped on Banshee 20 times. Makes the final reveal that much more of a fun surprise.!<

Would be awesome if this book ever was adapted into a major movie or TV series.

Returning after a bit of a break. Playing engineer at the moment. Back during season 1, explosive rounds on both contak and bonebreaker were usually the way to go for HoE, at least pre boss rounds.

Since updates, wanted to ask what is now considered best set ups for HoE for bonebreaker and the quad barrel shotgun for both pre boss rounds and for boss rounds.

For pre boss bonebreaker, wasn’t sure if explosive vs the newer buckshot rounds was better?

For pre boss quad barrel, same thing; cut damage, buckshot, etc?

I would imagine for boss rounds just customs the ammo type to the boss weakness.
