Target-display Neil Diamond!
A kind Target employee (shout-out Matt) cut the plastic display out of an empty box for me! I haven't seen other posts like this so I thought I'd give y'all a heads-up:
1.) The plastic window is thick and very tightly attached, more so than other boxes (compared to "The Scream" from an empty Masterpieces box). Matt needed a box cutter to remove it.
2.) The "Now Playing" stand (w/record) and the speaker are literally screwed down to the cardboard with a small screw each. Luckily I had a screwdriver at home and could remove them easily. I imagine it would also have been possible to cut around the screw, just more of a hassle.
3.) The record is glued to the "Now Playing" fixture with a dot of glue, and the record inside is also lightly glued to the sleeve. I was able to pry the glue away between the record and the sleeve with minimal visible damage to the sleeve, but the glue took a crack of black paint off of the record. Glue was only on the front-facing side though, so the back of the record and the sleeve are undamaged.
4.) All in all, for my little display purposes, I'm glad I asked! If you're at Target on a slow day and notice an empty box, you're probably just a quick request and a nice employee away from "Sweet Caroline."
