Mascot horror is the most algorithmically bred slop genre on the planet. It is horror for people who think “what if a children’s mascot had blood on it” is still a fresh idea in 2026.
Every single one of these games feels like it was assembled from the same landfill:
abandoned facility, quirky cartoon mascot, missing kids, evil company, VHS tape, secret experiment, jumpscare hallway,
And it all feels less like anyone is trying to make something genuinely good, and more like they’re chasing a trend because it prints attention, merch money, and praise from the easiest audience imaginable.
“BRO THE LORE IS INSANE” under a video explaining that the scary blue dog is actually possessed by a dead intern’s cousin or whatever.
“innocent thing but creepy” gimmick is not subversive anymore. It is the default. The second I see a smiling cartoon character in a dark hallway, I already know the entire plot. Some company did something unethical. Some kid died. Some mascot is alive. Some tape says “do not trust him.” Some ending reveals the real monster was capitalism, or trauma, or Chapter 2.
Mascot horror is not a genre anymore. It is a feeding trough for reaction channels and iPad kids
