Map of Oxford?

Hey all, trying to find a large map that I can either buy or print, ideally poster size, that includes all the areas within the Oxford ring road!

Would love any leads!

How are university administrators hired?

Incoming Master's candidate at a Russell Group university in the social sciences.

I am pretty interested in possibly doing university administration post-M.Phil. or PhD! How are administrators hired? What can I do to make myself hireable? Do I pursue an academic career and then try and transition to administration, like in the states? Are there other things that would make me more qualified instead?

Thanks!

Does travel to my home country count as visits or are they not worth mentioning? [Student Visa World Travel]

I am applying for a student visa for the UK from a country in the Global South. While doing my bachelor's degree in the US, I would visit home in the summer and winter, while maintaining an official residence in the United States. Do I need to mention the visits to my home country in the World Travel section, or is that irrelevant?

I do not hold any citizenship besides that of my home country, and had no green card/citizenship in the United States. My permanent address has always been my home country.

Minimum balance to keep phone number alive for 5 months?

Hey all!

I no longer live in America, and don't plan to live there again, but my American bank accounts are tied to my ATandT phone number. I plan to completely close out my American bank accounts and phone at the end of the tax year.

As such, I am curious how I should pay money to AT&T, how often, and how much to ensure I don't lose access to my phone number, without paying 33 dollars every month.

This is a prepaid line that was bought in 2022.

I would really love any help!

How to show ties to home country?

Good day!

I am 21F Global South citizen entering a fully funded MPhil at Oxbridge in autumn. I just graduated from a US university with my bachelor's, and I have previously done research at Oxbridge (i.e. had a visitor visa), and have a travel history of North America, Africa, Middle East and parts of Asia.

I have not held a job in my home country ever, and haven't lived here since before my bachelor's. My parents do live here, they own their home, also have an extensive travel history (including Israel and have held Schengen visas before).

I am worried that my application won't be convincing enough to the immigration officers of my intent to return to my home country in my student visa!

How do I demonstrate this? Please help.

Sub Fusc skirt question

Hi there! Incoming postgrad, for the people who wore skirts, was there an expectation that they had to be pencil or was it okay for them to be other styles? Would it be okay if my skirt has brown buttons? Also, how long does my skirt need to be?

Thanks!

When is it a good time to apply to RA and PhD positions at my London University?

I am entering a social science master's at a London university this autumn, and I was wondering when is a good time to email professors if they're looking for a research assistant? To clarify, I wouldn't have my university email until August for September start, so this would be emailing with my previous college's email.

I'll also be applying to PhD programs this fall, and I will email a few of these people to supervise my PhD at that point too-- do I just ask both questions (aka RA positions and PhD supervisor) in the same email, or different? How do I time them so I don't end up looking like an idiot or worse, inadvertently end up burning a bridge?

I am also hoping to email a couple of think tanks in the London area for research assistant roles, so I would also appreciate advice on that front!
