Do only rich people go to Oxford?
Even with a 50% scholarship the costs are quite intimidating.

Mostly focusing on the online courses for Creative Writing, such as: https://lifelong-learning.ox.ac.uk/courses/getting-started-in-creative-writing-online and the advanced part of this.
I read mixed reviews of this, would it be worth it for someone just getting started in writing? I have a math background so I am missing a lot of the fundamentals when it comes to creative writing. I started writing my story as many suggested online, but it is a very frustrating experience so far, and I feel like I need some form of education in the craft.
How reputable are the professors on these courses, and would you say it's worth the price?
As I know Oxford has very recognisable name in high finance, but the one thing that confuses me is the masters program’s duration.
Like only 1 year, isnt it too short to actually claim that Ive been studying in Oxford and put that name in my CV?
Exeter college alumna here! I’m keen to join the Oxford and Cambridge club. I need a seconder. Can anyone advise me how I can find one?
I’m a Master’s student, and we are basically wrapping up our final term of Trinity. My whole course is only about nine months and the only amazing part about being at Oxford for me till now has been the fact that I go to the best University in this world. However, I wouldn’t say I had the most amazing time, either going out or meeting a lot of people (partly because of myself since I don’t initiate going out) I’m not an introvert but maybe at times I do have a difficult time carrying conversations. I have friends here and there in Oxford but not friends I am close to, like in undergrad. Anyways, I would like for any advice for my last one month here in the University. I don’t know how to describe the feeling, but I know I am never going to be here for the rest of my life, and I want to make the most out of this historical place.
Hello everyone,
What do you think about studying two master’s degrees at the same time? Do you think this would be a good ROI long term, or would it be better to focus on one degree only? And why? PLEASE HELP.
For context:
- F26
- 3 years of experience in cybersecurity (government entity)
- Master’s 1: Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Columbia University, fully sponsored and full-time
- Master’s 2: MSc in Software and Systems Security at the University of Oxford, part-time and flexible, requiring travel to Oxford around 10 times over 4 years ( cost is affordable)
Note: I’ve already completed the first year at Oxford, and the second year is expected to be lighter with mainly the dissertation/project remaining and 4 courses. I would still have around 3 years to complete the Oxford degree.
Thank you🙏🙏
I don't know how many other degrees have their exams on Inspera but for mine 6 out of 7 exams are on there, so I'm curious to know if there's a way to access more Greek letters on the platform.
It's wild to me that the symbol for the special characters section is capital omega, then there's about 3 greek letters in there. A bit frustrating because there some questions/essay where I'll type the name of a protein such as Pol alpha or something 50 times and it would be so much easier to just add the Greek letter like once, copy then paste it (like I would normally do writing an essay)
Maybe I'm stupid and can't spot more I actually don't know... who do I even go to about something like this
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share a heads-up about a brilliant night of stand-up coming to the Pegasus Theatre.
A colleague of mine has been working with the Oxford University Neurodiversity Network to put this together. It’s a rare chance to see a lineup of entirely disabled professional comedians in an intimate setting—including Rosie Jones and several others you’ve likely seen on TV.
One of the best parts is that they’ve intentionally kept tickets at £10 to make sure the night is as accessible as possible for the local community.
It’s a fantastic cause and should be a top night of comedy. Hopefully, I'll see some of you there!
Hi All (especially, fellow neurodivergent Oxford students),
I wonder if anyone struggles badly with constant overstimulation at Oxford: there are crowds on the streets when I head to classes almost all the time now, people on the streets speak on average louder than I can handle, I was pushed quite a few times (not maliciously, but still, people just walk over other people), some noises - such as the hands dryers in most libraries' restrooms - are physically unbearable. Even dinner at hall - informal or formal - it's such a challenge because of the noises, it literally made me cry, whenever I tried to join to be more social.
I hope this doesn't offend anyone who is not on the spectrum: most people can't really relate, but I'm really objectively struggling. Just want to feel I'm not alone in this I guess and what strategy people use to survive. Thank you!
