What’s the most satisfying answer you’ve gotten right while watching?
There’s something weirdly satisfying about getting one right before the contestants do, especially when it’s not an obvious answer. You’re sitting there feeling like a genius for about five seconds. The best ones are the answers you somehow knew straight away but couldn’t explain how you knew it.
Sergej Jakirović’s high-tempo system, how does it translate to the top flight?
Sergej Jakirović built a reputation for fluid build-up play and high transition speed during his coaching spells abroad, and early pre-season runouts showed a clear 4-2-3-1 structure. Stepping up to face elite Premier League opposition means finding a balance between pressing high and keeping a compact defensive block. Do you think our new-look midfield can control tempo against established Premier League sides?

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen happen during a tutorial?
Not talking about someone giving a terrible answer or being completely unprepared. More those moments where the whole tutorial suddenly goes in a direction nobody expected and everyone just sits there trying not to laugh. I’m sure every subject has at least one story like that.
Do you have a parkrun you keep going back to even though it isn’t your fastest?
Some courses just feel better than others. Maybe you know the route by heart, recognise a few familiar faces, or just like the atmosphere there. The time almost becomes a bit irrelevant when you enjoy being there.
Some of those interviewers are not even giving them a chance
Which episode had you feeling stressed for them?
Some of those deadlines genuinely make me stressed just watching them. When they’re still painting, moving furniture and trying to finish the room with barely any time left, I’m sitting there thinking there’s no way they’re getting it done.
Some of the wrong answers are funnier than the right ones
There are always a few answers that make me laugh because the person says them with so much confidence, even when they’re nowhere near right. It makes the whole round more entertaining, especially when everyone at home is shouting the answer at the TV.
What’s the greatest dish you’ve seen on Great British Menu?
Which challenge actually showed who was good at designing rather than just styling?
Some of the rooms look great because they’re beautifully styled, but the challenges where the space itself is difficult are more interesting to me. Having to work around an awkward layout, limited space or a brief that doesn’t suit your own taste seems like a much better test of actual design ability. Those are usually the rooms that make me notice who really knows what they’re doing.

aljazeera.comWhich Oxford tradition do you secretly enjoy more than you'd expected?
Before coming to Oxford, I assumed some of the traditions would feel a bit overhyped or mostly for the photos. But a few of them ended up being genuinely enjoyable once I experienced them. It's funny how some things that seem a little odd at first become part of what makes the place feel special.
