Is the sovereign centre car park (Boscombe) still 24hr?

Hey all,
I keep finding conflicting information. One sit says 24hr parking & others say it isn’t.

Is the ground floor still open 24hrs like it always has been as I’m at an event there on Saturday till 2am

Thanks

Queens Park Avenue Speed Cameras

Does anyone know what direction the cameras catch you from - I.e driving towards them or driving away from them. Specifically on Queens Park Avenue. Many thanks!!

Best company for a house move?

Hi everyone,

I'll be moving out of Bournemouth in a few weeks and I'm starting to sort out the logistics. It's a move from a 2-bedroom flat, so it's a bit more than I can realistically handle with a rental van and a couple of friends.

I've been looking at local removal companies as well as some of the larger services, but it's difficult to know which ones are reliable. Good communication and turning up on time are probably my biggest priorities.

Has anyone here moved recently and had a particularly good experience with a company they'd recommend? I'd really appreciate hearing about any local movers or services that made the whole process less stressful.

SANDBANKS ROAD BOY RACERS/SPEEDERS

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in signing a Petition to implement some sort of Speed Regulation (whether that’s Speed Cameras, Average Speed checks, or at least a higher Local police presence) along Sandbanks Road, specifically the stretch between the Railway Tunnel onwards to Lilliput/Evening Hill.

During the day most drivers seem to obey the rules of the road… However every night there are Dozens of drivers and bikers blatantly speeding/revving their engines/beeping their horns and it regularly creates a huge disturbance to myself and the other local residents. There is a couple of signs for speed cameras and a few 30mph stickers on bins, but I feel everybody has cottoned on to the fact that there’s not actually any measures installed. I haven’t verified the speeds myself but some seem to come past going at least 50/60mph (in a 30mph zone).

I’m certain this is a minority of people and also probably repeat offenders, as there’s often Car Meets/Convoys down at Whitecliff/Sandbanks and I’d imagine it’s mainly drivers travelling to/from these? I’m really glad for you that you’ve managed to afford a supercar (or maybe just one with a loud exhaust), but It doesn’t take much effort to drive responsibly and not affect everyone around you. A lot of drivers manage to come past without creating such a racket and manage to obey the speed limits.

Obviously, this behaviour is extremely dangerous as there’s often young walking to/from the beach, drunk people who’ve come down from Ashley Cross as well as lots of local wildlife/pets. Not to mention all the homes nearby possibly with children inside.

Again not trying to sound like a Karen, I am into motoring + love the car scene we have locally, I’m just sick and tired of people driving so dangerously down my road.

Please let me know if you’d be interested in signing this petition or have any other comments!

Anyone interested in starting an AV Club?

Hey everyone! I've got an idea and want to see if anyone's interested.

I’m in my mid 40s, live in town and I'm a big movie fan. I'm into anything, big budget, fantasy, small indies, schlocky sci-fi, period dramas, westerns, pretty much everything! I also love writing and am always full of ideas!

I'm looking to start a new local group, something like the classic American school AV Club, but for adults, and welcoming and accepting of all.

We'd be a small group who meet up regularly to talk movies, discuss what we’re watching, sharing recommendations. Watch Movies, either at home or together. Have a dedicated screening or film club element. So we can discuss movies. And ultimately create movies. We'd write, shoot, and edit small, fun short films together.

Think smartphone-shot, free editing software, hand-made props, and lots of process-over-perfection fun. We can create roles for everyone, whether you want to write, handle sound, edit, act, or just brainstorm and all levels of experience are welcome as we'll be learning as we go.

We'd make sure the meetups have a low-pressure structure, clear expectations, and opportunities for everyone to contribute in a way that feels comfortable.

This is open to people that want to join and meet in person, or if you'd prefer to only participate virtually, that's good too, there's still lots to be done from a desk, like the writing, planning, sound and editing.

I’m looking for two or three people who are keen to help build this from the ground up! Age range isn’t too important, just a shared love for creativity and a willingness to participate.

If this sounds like you might want to try, drop a comment or send me a message.

Looking for a vocalist for a band

As the title says, my band and I are looking for a new vocalist. We’re a hardcore/ crossover thrash/ some sort of metal band with members from across Dorset, although predominantly based in BCP.
We’re currently recording for our first EP/album and have previously gigged extensively around BCP, Wiltshire and Bristol, and are undertaking a name change after 2+ years to better suit the bands current sound.
We’re all in our early 20s and looking for a vocalist we gel well with who preferably has some skill in metal vocals.
We do weekly-ish practices in town, so feel free to leave a comment if you’re interested in knowing more or trying out- we’re a pretty friendly bunch and don’t bite!
Cheers

Cost of Living and where to avoid

I’m currently considering relocating for a new role in the BCP area. I’d essentially be looking in any of Christchurch, Bournemouth, Ferndown or Ringwood, or any places in between.

I don’t know too much about the local area so I’m looking for some general advice/guidance on what I can expect on the COL-front, and which areas are best to look at

I’d initially be looking at renting. I’m late 20’s and fairly active so I wouldn’t want to be too far removed etc

American & korean tourists here 15 years ago and now

Bournemouth has changed a lot in a bad way. (Sorry in advance) We visited Bournemouth 15 years ago. A couple international schools closed. This is where I met my spouse. It is a great party spot.

What happened?

Is there a fire near throop?

Ik it's 2 in the morning but was out stargazing and saw a dark orange glow near where throop is. Was wondering if anyone knows if this is a fire or not

UPDATE:

Whatever it was, it's not not visible so most likely it was a fire but it was contained hopefully :)

Thinking of doing my Master's at Bournemouth University! How safe/welcoming is the town for East Asians?

Hi everyone,

I am considering joining Bournemouth University for a postgraduate program. As an international student I am wondering:

How welcoming and safe is Bournemouth for foreigners, specifically for East Asians?

How about the vibe at Bournemouth University?

Enforcement officers put out small beach fire because Alerts

Bournemouth beach. On the sand. 10 strides from the entire sea.

Edit: Wow. Appreciate how serious people took the Alerts.

Indi’s Poole Hill lunch time tapas

I visited the new Indi’s last week and was very impressed. The tapas offer is two dishes and either plain rice or nan bread for £10. Me and my wife picked 4 different dishes a white rice and a nan bread - £20. There was more than enough for us. And it was all exceptional. The offer is from 12noon until 2pm.

I’m posting because it was quiet in there and I think they deserve a lot more customers. Saying that, it was a very hot day on Friday. Which likely put people off. And I understand they are generally busier in the evening. But it’s very well worth considering. It is an amazing bargain for what you get.
