Why do ITV hardly change the house decor?

I'm thinking about the fact the houses on ITV Big Brother are barely updated from series to series. They literally have months to change things up and I can't see why they don't, especially when Channel 5 used transform the house with THREE days between a civilian and celebrity series. Looking at this has made me think the ITV house is too big also.

Celebrity Big Brother Set to be Axed!

According to The Sun (who are annoyingly quite reliable when it comes to BB gossip.

Honestly, someone needs to take the entire format away from ITV - what a mess!

Celebrity Big Brother set to be axed by ITV?

Sad news being reported in the press this evening that Celebrity Big Brother may be axed for good. I understand that having it on ITV and finding names to take part is costly, however they could definitely put it on ITV2 with a lower budget.

A lot of the Channel 5 celebrity series featured relatively nobodies and yet they were still entertaining. Give us people who haven’t been in the public eye for years perhaps and would do it for cheaper money?

I have enjoyed the last two ITV series, and yes it’s been great having the big names like Sharon and Louis, Fern Britton, Mickey Rourke, soap stars like Patsy Palmer and Jack P Shepherd, JoJo Siwa… but they’re not ESSENTIAL. I’d be happy with some reality stars, soap stars, X Factor contestants and Americans we’ve never heard of if it means we keep it on screen

Does anyone else think Big Brother is at its best when absolutely nothing dramatic is happening?

Some of my favourite moments aren't the rows or shock evictions. It's the random conversations at 2am, people making tea, silly games in the garden or everyone laughing over something completely pointless. Those moments make the arguments feel much more real when they eventually happen.

Who else misses BB moments like this?

Do you prefer watching genuine friendships develop or strategic gameplay? Which makes better television?

Personally, I think the absolute peak of Big Brother is when a genuine friendship crashes head first into the ruthless mechanics of the game. Watching people who genuinely care about each other suddenly have to nominate, betray or choose between loyalty and staying in the house is always far more interesting than any manufactured twist.

One month left for the brand new Big Brother Eye! 👁️

In exactly one month, Love Island will be coming to an end. Which can only mean one thing and that is the new BB eye! What do we hope it will be theme wise? Hopefully something dark since the ITV ones have all be very bright. Credits for the video above: superTV247 on twitter

Davina Reveals She Put Herself Forward for BBITV

Davina says she actively wanted to host ITV’s Big Brother reboot, and when they chose AJ Odudu and Will Best instead, she even offered to do a “fancy another one?” cameo, which they rejected.

Honestly, that’s kind of mad.

Part of me can’t believe ITV passed on Davina McCall, but another part thinks she may have had a lucky escape. As disappointing as it sounds, at least she’s not tied to the much softer, watered-down version of the show we ended up with. Another example of how they want the format and the fanbase it brings without having to spend the money or do the work.

Craig BB6

I’ve just watched BB6 for the first time and omg wtf was the deal with Craig? He was so borderline creepy towards Anthony the majority of the time, it was genuinely uncomfortable to watch. The way he would constantly throw tantrums and try to twist things people would say as well? One of the most vile housemates ever

Producers need to realise followers don't equal viewers

Whenever the casting of influencers I mentioned on here, people always say “it’s because their followers are going to watch the show”

But I don’t see this happening? Majority of people on social media in this day and age will only be watching clips from social media which doesn’t add to the viewership.

I also think Richard winning last series speaks volumes on who is actually watching and voting. Do you agree?

Farrah & Janice moment I think about once a week — CBB16 Day 8

from CBB16 (2015). I grab ONE berry, I don’t infect the whole f—king bowl, so don’t tell me what to do. 😂

Big brother legends anyone?

I think what should happen is there should be a big brother where all the legends come back. Either this or do a documentary on where they are now and what they actually think of the show looking back at how they perceive themselves now.

We need more housemates over forty in the next civilian series

The house always functions so much better when there is a proper generational mix. When the cast is entirely twenty somethings looking for an influencer deal it just turns into a generic reality show. Give us regular people with completely different life experiences

Caroline was a brilliant housemate

I'm sorry but I've got to say it.. she is exactly the kind of housemate the ITV era of Big Brother was crying out for. A woman of a certain age with opinions that made her clash with other people. Of course there were moments like the Zelah situation, which were shocking but the fallout made for great viewing.

Her “feud” with Richard was iconic and contributed towards us getting a 60 year old winner.

I’d love to see more older housemates like Caroline, like Richard, but with less “celebrity” connections. Give us normal over 50’s, because more often than not, they make the show

Which housemate became more likeable after leaving the house?

Sometimes people come across one way inside the house and completely differently once they're back in the real world. Interviews, podcasts and social media can really change perceptions. Has there been anyone you appreciated much more after the series finished?

Big Brother going to 8 weeks this autumn is either going to be the best decision ITV have made or a complete disaster and there is no in between.

ITV confirmed series 23 will run for eight weeks, the longest run Big Brother UK has had in over a decade. The recent series have been good but six weeks always felt like it ended just as things were properly heating up between housemates. Eight weeks means more time for actual relationships and rivalries to develop rather than everyone being evicted before you've worked out who you actually like. The risk is it drags in the middle. Do you think the longer format is going to work or did the shorter series actually suit the current version of the show better.

I’d forgotten about Courtney, but amongst all the big gobs in the house that year, she still came across as one of the most likeable housemates in the history of the sport. I could have watched her and Lauren for an hour a day, just the two of them.
