Carrie: The Musical?

after reading the book i listened to the 2012 revival album last night, and i was BLOWN away! And Eve Was Weak is a straight masterpiece, In was a startlingly good opening number, and the closing number (just called Epilogue) had me feeling like i had walked out of the theatre, even though i was just on my couch with headphones.

anybody else listened to or watched Carrie: The Musical?

do y’all ever stop and really *think* about reality TV

this isn’t a callout to anybody in particular, and while this show’s fandom is my main focus, it’s all reality TV that i’m talking about

enjoying reality TV brings out the worst in a lot of us.

i mean, just think about it. we complain when horrible and unpleasant housemates are removed, because it takes away the shock and excitement of watching them be pricks to everyone. we don’t care if the housemates - real people, like you and me - feel comfortable, in fact we find it boring when they are.

we want them to break. we want to see tears, we want a spectacle. you might be a kind, caring, wonderful human being, but when the TV goes on, that goes out the window for so many of us. there’s something about looking through a screen that turns them into characters, and us into something like a mob.

not even accusing, it’s just a really interesting thing to reflect on

fleeting moment of body euphoria

it’s not very often that i experience body euphoria, or body confidence at all, but i got out of the shower just now and suddenly thought. “MAN, i feel like a bear”

i have dark hair on my tummy and a quite voluptuous tummy also. normally i’m kind of insecure about this, but tonight i saw myself in the mirror and just felt so manly. i didn’t just see a fat stomach, i saw a guy who sits in his garden in the summer drinking beer (i don’t even like beer) and showing off his incredible body hair.

could have to do with the fact that my hair is freshly cut and re-dyed (blue), but whatever it was, i felt like a man <3

TERFs and chestfeeding

insane that TERFs think that normalising the term “chestfeeding” for trans and nonbinary parents is taking something away from them personally

just because WE’RE gonna call it that to lower dysphoria (at least in the case of transmascs and enbies, i’m uneducated on the transfem side of it), that doesn’t affect them in any way! we’re not making YOU call your own breastfeeding chestfeeding, if you’re talking about your own experience then keep on saying breastfeeding, nobody’s gonna put you in a paddy wagon and send you to the queer dimension!!

calm the fuck DOWN

was gonna put an analogy in here to highlight the stupidity but can’t think of one

fireworks

we watched the nighttime fireworks exactly once and it was a horrible experience. i’m realising now that it was worse because i’m autistic, but the crowding is awful. you’re shoulder to shoulder with EVERYONE and in all of those people, it’s rare to find someone who’s considerate to the people around them.

after that night, we decided we would just watch fireworks shows on the phone in our hotel, and i’m glad we did. if you have neurodivergent kids or are neurodivergent and/or struggle with crowds, i could not recommend the fireworks less.

dunno why but the parades were much nicer for me to view, maybe because the crowd is all in a line so it’s less compact?

my experience in last year’s English P1

so i’m feeling confident, right. it’s 2025, i’m sat with my paper closed in front of me. and my invigilator has a very thick Scottish accent. can’t tell a word he’s saying beyond the stuff he writes on the whiteboard. we were let in a little early, so i took the time to collect myself.

looking around, i saw one person already starting their paper. when i looked the other way, i saw ANOTHER person already starting. i silently tutted, and thought to myself, “I’m going to follow the rules and only start when the invigilator says.”

but then i look up at the clock a bit later, and it’s gone 9:30. the invigilator was coming ‘round to check our candidate numbers, so when he got to me, i quietly asked him if we could start.

his response? “Yes, yes, you were able to start ages ago.”
i was PISSED that he hadn’t said, but i found out afterward that he did say to start, i just didn’t understand him and sat there like a fool for ten minutes.

i did not have him for my second paper. i had to skip one or two low-mark questions to make up for lost time, but i still passed my English with a grade 5 that year (very good for me as i had never sat an exam prior to my mocks that year) so uhhhh never give up.

TLDR: i didn’t hear my invigilator say to start the exam because of his thick accent and lost 10 full minutes

binding with pre-existing rib problem?

hello hello! 18 he/him, i was thinking about getting a binder - not for everyday use, just for special occasions and high-dysphoria days, which for me are relatively rare.

however, i have a deformed rib, originating from a complication at birth. not very painful, just a bulge on my left side just under the breast where it flares out. i realised that, because binders can impact your ribs, maybe it’s not a great idea for me to bind.

google hasn’t helped much, does anybody have advice?
