Best moment of last year's series

Best moment of last year's series

For me, Balvinder and Julian being saved in the semi-finals has to be my favourite moment of last year’s series. After five dance offs, coming back with that dance to Never Enough was such a moment.

What was yours?

Song predictions for this year?

Posted this the last couple years so doing it again now the full cast is announced, what’s your song predictions for this season?

Can be songs that have been a hit this year - Olivia Dean & Sam Fender are a shoo in, probably something from Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, and Madonna’s recent new albums. And I think Joy by Raye would be fabulous for a dance.
Taylor Swift’s I Knew It I Knew you for a Toy Story themed movie week dance. Not sure what song but maybe a Spider-Man dance since the new movie just came out this summer too?

But also songs related to the contestants that we often see in week one. Such as the dog trainer getting Who Let The Dogs Out. Or Melanie dancing to Stacy’s Mom since she plays Stacey’s mum in Gavin & Stacey. Will Best with Simply The Best?

Which Strictly pro would you love to see paired with someone completely unexpected?

Not necessarily a pairing that looks perfect on paper. Sometimes the most random combinations end up being the ones with the funniest training sessions and the best chemistry. There are so many different personalities that could make for a really entertaining partnership. I’d love to see a pairing that nobody would have guessed at the start of the series.

Do you think they should start revealing 2nd to 4th place.

I really do think they should start revealing the placements again in the final. Considering we vote for this show, I think we deserve to know who came 4th–2nd rather than having them all just listed as runner-up. I think you can probably predict most years, as below

2025
2nd: George, 3rd: Amber

2024
2nd: Sarah, 3rd: JB, 4th: Tasha

2023:
2nd: Layton, 3rd: Bobby

2022:
2nd: Helen, 3rd: Fleur, 4th: Molly

2020:
2nd: HRVY, 3rd: Maisie, 4th: Jamie

2019:
2nd: Emma, 3rd: Karim

2018:
2nd: Joe, 3rd: Faye, 4th: Ashley

2017:
2nd: Debbie, 3rd: Alexandra, 4th: Gemma

2016:
2nd: Danny, 3rd: Louise

2015:
2nd: Kellie, 3rd: Georgia

2014:
2nd: Frankie, 3rd: Simon

2013:
2nd: Susanna, 3rd: Natalie

2012:
2nd: Kimberley, 3rd: Denise

DWTS the next pro

Does anyone watch this and think we need to have this format but with maybe Derek Hough instead of Shirley as a judge?

Also does anyone else think it's time for a massive refresh of Strictly? and maybe bring in a guest judge each week and more themed weeks like DWTS?

What’s a Strictly dance you remember more for the moment than the dancing?

Some routines just stick with you, even if they weren’t technically the best dance of the series. It could be the music, the reaction in the room, something unexpected happening, or just the feeling of watching it live. Those are usually the dances I remember years later more than the ones with the big scores.

New voting system

I have an idea for a new voting system because there is a flaw in the voting system that Strictly has used for 18-19 years.

Looking at the most recent casting vote, Anton voted for Alex and Craig voted for Balvinder. This means that Motsi's vote was worthless as it was going down to Shirley anyway.

My idea for a new system is, each week, one judge takes turns having no say in the vote, and similar to last series, a head judge rotation where one judge decides if it's a 1 v 1 vote.

Ellie Taylor CONFIRMED as the new host of It Takes Two

I think the format is staying the same, she mentioned she'll be on every weeknight.

Pairing Predictions!

I'm more confident on some of these than others

  1. Lacey Turner and Mark Karmalita - I've had Lacey earmarked for a new guy pro since she was announced, the only good height match was Nikita, and I don't think he's getting an easy ride to the final this year, which is what I think Lacey presents due to a very loyal Eastenders fanbase.

  2. Dani Dyer and Cristian Priori - Same thing with Lacey due to her height with the added factor of her probably not being able to be with Nikita.

  3. Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington - Kai's long overdue a ringer, I feel like they'd gel.

  4. Sarah Storey and Aljaz Skorjanec - I don't think Aljaz has ever been paired with an athlete on the main show so I thought it would be interesting.

  5. Chris Appleton and Alexis Warr - Pretty sure Chris has namedropped both Alexis and Dianne in interviews and I'd be interested to see how Alexis would get on without a built-in fanbase to come to the rescue, regardless of scores.

  6. Cash Mercer and Aleksandra Isaeva - They're a decent height match, I was originally torn between Aleksandra and Amy for Cash but I went with Aleksandra.

  7. Will Best and Dianne Buswell - After a down year with Stefan, I think she's earned a contender. I don't think Will will be seen as a ringer but his ceiling/potential could be pretty high.

  8. Jaime Winstone and Vito Coppola - Jaime gives me Alex Kingston/Angela Scanlon/upper-mid tier vibes and I think that's the sort of celeb that Vito is due.

  9. Bethany Antonia and Jowita Pryzstal - I think if Bethany opts to dance with a woman Jowita and Alexis are two of the stronger physical matches + Jowita hasn't really had a great dancer since winning with Hamza.

  10. Shaun Wright-Phillips and Katya Jones - I don't think he'll be as bad as many of other Katya's partners are in the beginning, but he won't go as far as Lewis.

  11. Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley - I hadn't heard of Graeme but I think people might warm to him, and I think Lauren will make him a legitimately ok dancer at worst (depending on where he starts in terms of natural ability)

  12. Lawerence Robb and Amy Dowden - Not much to say really, I think they'd gel and he has a chance to make a deep run but its far from a guaranteed thing.

  13. Tabby Stoecker and Nikita Kuzmin - Keeping up the pattern of ringer-athlete-ringer for Nikita, Tabby comes in almost certainly being lesser known than Sarah and I think without a built-in fanbase.

  14. John Nellis and Maddie Ingoldsby - Not feeling confident about this at all, process of elimination though.

  15. Melanie Waltes and Carlos Gu - Before the celebs were announced, I had a feeling Carlos wou get an older lady after winning last year and Melanie is the only person on this year's cast who really fits that category at all.

Bench: Neil, Nancy, Lethabo and Julian.

What do you make of the idea of having former pros featured as guest mentors some weeks?

So think, like Cynthia Erivo's role on movie week.

What if we had former pros doing that perhaps for some of the non theme weeks in the competition (perhaps to distinguish the week/episode a bit better), and maybe at later points of the season, so there'd be more time for a 5th person's comments at the judging table. They wouldn't have to score, but like Cynthia could probably offer critiques and advice in rehearsal and the live show, maybe take part in a little guest dance number in the results show, and it would be nice to see them back.

Oti, Kevin, Karen Hardy, Ian, Erin etc would all be fantastic at it!

Which dance would you never get bored of watching on Strictly?

I could watch a good Argentine Tango or Charleston over and over and still enjoy it. There’s just something about certain routines that hits differently every time, even when you already know exactly what’s coming.

I just wished they did the launch show and result show’s live 😣

It’s so frustrating when the pairings and results get leaked just for people to then create continuous spoiler tiktok’s for them just because they can’t be bothered to wait and watch it.

If they started revealing the celebs for this year in June instead of August with the reason reportedly due to prevent leaks and spoilers then surely they can do the launch and results show’s live on its air dates instead of filming it early just to over dramatically edit them (especially the result show).

And yes I know people are probably gonna say it’s so the pro’s can film the group dances but considering how many stupid changes (like last years new result show format which I absolutely CANNOT STAND!!!) like they keep making it so much more dramatic every year to the point where it almost gives me an anxiety attack (I suffer from an anxiety disorder so I know well).

Also why do they always act like it’s live on Sunday by changing the hosts and judges outfits and the wordings they use like… Strictly and BBC babe you can’t fool us 😂

Also considering how blankety blank has been axed by the BBC hopefully that means something will happen this year 🙏

And I’ve just searched up why they don’t do it live and one reason said it’s because it’s too late for families but like.. it’s Saturday loads of people are gonna be up late anyway it’s the weekend and also it’s their fault for making it so dramatically long just by filling in what happened on the night, splitting the results into so many sections now, music, pro dance, judges debrief and dance off when half of that isn’t even needed it’s just to fill in time because they don’t know what to do 😂

If they are really trying to prevent leaks and cared that much then surely by now they would do both of them live and it would actually mean we HAD to watch it instead of impatience people trying to spoil it for other people just to see if their favourite’s were eliminated.

Can someone change the thread header/banner?

Now the 2026 cast is out can anyone change it? Sorry to be annoying but I will happily see the back of Skinner's picture and seeing it everytime I check this thread

Do you prefer the dramatic dances or the fun ones?

I love the really dramatic routines, but the fun ones are usually the dances I end up remembering. There’s something about a couple clearly enjoying themselves on the floor that makes the whole thing more enjoyable to watch.
