I’m so bored of reading 50 posts a day about how we don’t like the new hosting format and we don’t want Josh widdicombe (not my opinion, I personally like him), so let’s see if we can start a positive thread about some fun and exciting things we would like to see! You never know, maybe someone will see it and snap up our ideas for next year 👀

I’ll go first!

I’d love to have a proper explanation of what the hallmark criteria is for each dance. Maybe a bit less of the couples going on fairground rides etc, and a factual explanation with a demo of XYZ steps

I’d also love for them to introduce a Strictly Legends week where couples repeat some of the most famous dances from times gone by. I’m not sure what the etiquette is around using other professional’s choreography but I think it would be really fun to see dances recreated.

What fun things do you think they could try next year? Please keep it lighthearted, I’m trying to get away from just bashing the new format!

I know this topic has been done to death, but all the posts I can find are either really old, or refer to really reactive/aggressive dogs so aren’t quite so relevant.

We rescued a mini poodle over a year ago now. I love him so much, he’s the light of my life, and I just want him to have the best possible life and in my opinion that includes giving him the freedom to run off lead (he loves running!)

Unfortunately he cannot be trusted around other dogs, and if he sees one he will instantly bolt over. Never in an aggressive way, he just wants to say hello. Our trainer has said he thinks this stems from nerves, and no amount of positive reward can break his fixation. I’ve tried all the high value treats i can get my hands on, play reward, praise etc, but when he’s locked on nothing gets through.

Our new trainer is a balanced trainer, and with his guidance we’ve been using a slip lead, including corrections, but I absolutely hate it. I hate using it for walks and I hate correcting him, and I know I’m not being consistent enough for it to work properly although we have made some progress with it.

We were talking in our last session about why the slip lead makes me nervous and he suggest using an e-collar. We also live quite rurally with deer that have a habit of bolting across fields and near to main roads - another reason the trainer suggested the collar!

I was so vehemently against it, but he encouraged me to try it on myself and once I felt it and realised it wasn’t a giant shock to the nervous system, we tried it on the pup. He seemed absolutely fine, and we were using it to practice some recall (the trainer was showing me the steps of turning the stim off as the reward). I was really surprised how quickly my pup started picking it up, and felt confident that I’d be going home and ordering one.

Then I got in my own head, and now I’ve done a full 180 and I feel insane guilt that I’m considering using something with such a bad rep. I’m really torn, as I really want him to have that freedom and can kinda see that the ecollar might be the path to that, but the guilt is so real.

Please share any thoughts/tips/advice/success stories - or indeed the opposite. Basically tell me what I should do please 😅

Could somebody please give me some inexpensive options to try liquid blush for the first time?

I am cool toned and pale, but flush red very easily. I’ve avoided wearing blush for many years as I didn’t want to make the red worse, but I would like to brighten my overall look. I’m aiming for a ‘just finished a winter walk’ rather than a ‘I’ve just finished a park run’.

Would a dusty rose colour suit me? Or maybe an orangey toned one?

I’ve been reading reviews for the Rare beauty blushers, and the Victoria Beckham ones but it would be great to try some cheaper options first.

Hello, I have absolutely no idea about tech so looking for some advice.

I have a Windows laptop from work, that uses Windows 11 (not sure if this is relevant).

I have never (and would never) used TikTok on my work laptop. Don’t even know if it’s possible. BUT I do have TikTok on my phone. I work from home so both laptop and phone use the same WiFi.

Ever since I started using this laptop (maybe 3 months ago now?), I’ve been seeing a pop up on my screen saying ‘inbound connection blocked by admin. A device at TikTok tried to connect to your computer and has been blocked’.

It’s freaking me out because I’ve no idea why it’s happening? Like I said I’ve never used TikTok on my work computer. I’ve never even posted on TikTok, I just have it to watch the occasional video friends might send.

Should I just delete the TikTok app?!

Any book recs with a King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table plot?

Hello!

At what point did those of you who have successfully weaned your dog off their meds start the process? Did you wait until you’d reached your goal and were comfortable things were sorted, or did you wean them off and continue the training?

Also, at what point did you consider the issue ‘fixed’ ie not watching the camera like a hawk for every absence and not having to do active training every day?

We are up to 1.5 hours and he is consistently hitting that every time. I don’t think it will be long until we’re at the 2-3 hour mark which is all I’ve ever wanted to be honest so I’m trying to think ahead for the next steps.

Is possible to teach a dog how to play well with others?

There is a new puppy in the family (not our household) an we’ve been introducing them slowly.

Whilst my dog is usually chilled, he definitely likes his own space when he’s around other dogs. He likes to play for 10-15 mins then be left for a bit. Then he’ll initiate play again.

Whilst I think we can manage the puppy, my question is around teaching my dog manners when it comes to playing with the new dog. When he plays with older/bigger dogs, they are very good at taking turns, letting my dog ‘win’ sometimes even though he’s smaller, giving him his space when he’s clearly had enough. My dog doesn’t seem to do this with the puppy, and while it’s not aggressive he definitely dominates the entire game without letting the puppy win. We watch them very carefully and obviously separate them when they need space.

Is there any way to teach a dog nice play manners? Our dog is an older rescue so we haven’t had the luxury of introducing him to new dogs at an early age.
