Finally ATT is getting me an upgrade from the 210 to the BGW320-505. Ideal settings?
Att finally is getting me an upgrade to the 320. I've seen variety of posts for diff settings for latency issues, etc. I got kids under 8 who dont game outside basic ipad games on weekends. Streaming is just wife and I together and if anything weekends with kids on separate tv. Do have 4 nest cams and wfh.
What ideal settings are a must for any user? I currently have wifi disabled, and use my own deco mesh network and the 210 wifi disabled. Only hardwired for my desktop and a printer along with dns switched.
What pro tips yall got for me?
Auto Plan Upgrade
I have five lines and got hit with the same increase—but I was never clearly notified.
I called customer support, and they claimed an email was sent. The only email I received (on 5/1) talked about a “plan change” with zero mention of any price increase.
Support then told me the increase was buried at the bottom of April’s bill. And yes—it was. But that’s exactly the issue. They push autopay discounts and give you a clean, simplified app view of your bill, which makes it completely unrealistic that most people are digging into full statements every month.
I was already on the Unlimited Starter plan—the lowest tier. In March, they introduced a new “value” plan, but instead of making this transparent, they effectively moved customers into a higher-cost structure without clear communication. There was no reason for me to go looking for a plan change since I was already at the base level.
This feels like intentionally poor communication designed to quietly generate revenue. If they did this to a million customers, that’s an extra $5 million—just like that.
They refused to offer any credit. I hope this gets a class action lawsuit started for abusing consumers.

AT&T will start charging an administrative fee on prepaid plans
Starting June 22, AT&T will charge a $2.63 administrative fee on prepaid plans which is still slightly cheaper than the $3.99 administrative fee on postpaid plans.
Why doesn’t my phone roam
Have terrible service and dropped calls in DFW. Can’t get websites to load or podcasts to stream.
Noticed that I don’t have any roaming utilization whereas I used to on t-mobile, which had better service. I’m on the unlimited premium PL plan if that matters
Unethical Practices
Never realized how shady and slimy AT&T is until I had to move.
I recently moved so I called AT&T because at minimum I planned on cancelling my service due to the move. I had already shopped around a bit and knew that Xfinity in my area was offering a much more competitive internet rate so when I called AT&T and told them about the move and what Xfinity was offering they told me over the phone that at my new address, if I still use AT&T Internet I would get the same speed at a lower rate PLUS a $200 visa gift card. Well given these incentives I agreed over the phone to stay.
Fast forward to today, I had to reach out to their online customer service for another shady practice they did (never cancelling the service at my old address despite me reaching at several times over weeks to ensure that it was cancelled) and had them check in on my $200 visa gift card. Upon checking I was told “oh I see they issued a $100 gift card to your rewards account but on my end I see you should be getting $150”.
$100? $150? Why are neither of these numbers the $200 I was offered initially to remain with AT&T??? They have me reach out to rewards team to see what the deal is. When I reach out to the rewards team they basically tell me they can’t do anything and that I need to call customer service again. I even copied and pasted the messages from AT&T customer service where they state the promotion ID and the $150 I should be getting (again it’s not what was initially promised but it’s also at least not $100) and they just say “sorry please call customer service” . For the next few hours I basically play this game of roulette where AT&T has me calling different departments and all of them saying “sorry we know you were told something else but we can’t help you”.
I know my initial phone conversation where I was promised $200 was recorded and have begged every person to go back to that recording (I know these people wont) but wow it’s just kinda insane to me what is happening. I was also told from the rewards team that while they are still under the AT&T umbrella they have a loose affiliation with the main AT&T company and what they offer.
So long story short, AT&T is shady. Always have everything they offer you in WRITING, and even if you have that in writing expect AT&T to still tell you to shove it up your ass
Question about legitness of job/interview
Just asking towards people who already have a job with at&t and if they had a similar experience. For background info, i’m 18 and recently graduated high school, and this would be my first job But as I got a interview offer and completed a zoom interview, I had a few points that I wanted to talk about that seemed sketchy to me, and I was wondering if it was normal for others. Also for reference, the job would be in southern California.
Pay is $900-$1400 per week. I only ask if this is legit cause I never had a job before.
During the interview, it only lasted 2 mins and all they asked was if I can commute to the location and if I can meet the hours requirement.
I applied on indeed for a certain location, but the location they told me in the interview was different.
The interviewer used a green screen of an AT&T office, not a big deal just wondering if this is fine cause it was a bit sketchy to me but I just thought it was done to make it feel more like an interview.
Thank you all and sorry if these seem like dumb questions, I just never had a job before and was wondering if this was normal for AT&T
AT&T sales rep lied and now we’re stuck with thousands in debt. What can we do?
My dad recently switched carriers to AT&T, and I got home from college to find out he had signed up for a contract after speaking with a sales/customer service rep over the phone. The issue is that the rep apparently made a ton of promises that either were completely misleading or outright false.
According to my dad, the rep kept telling him things like:
“Grab any phones you want!”
“Sell or trade your old phones to us and get newer ones for free!”
“They’re all free!”
My dad repeatedly told her that he already had an iPhone 14 Pro and didn’t need new devices, but she kept pushing him to add more lines and devices. She specifically told him the only thing he would pay upfront was “taxes,” around $288 per device, and claimed even those taxes would later be refunded.
He ended up getting:
3 new iPhones
1 iPad
She also told him:
He could trade in his iPhone 14 Pro and get an iPhone 17 Pro “for free”
AT&T would include free home Wi-Fi
The devices themselves would cost nothing
After signing, my dad called AT&T because some of the charges didn’t make sense afterwards. The representatives he spoke to afterward said they were confused why the sales rep told him any of this because those offers apparently do not exist. One rep even warned him not to ship out his iPhone trade-in because it could get lost and wouldn’t guarantee anything.
Now my dad is stuck owing monthly payments on all these devices and lines he never intended to get. He can barely afford rent as it is, and this whole thing feels like a sales rep saying literally anything necessary to secure a commission.
What I’m trying to figure out is:
Does AT&T record sales calls like this?
Is there any way to dispute or cancel this based on deceptive sales practices?
Is this something worth reporting to a government agency or consumer protection office?
Has anyone here successfully dealt with something similar?
At this point we’re trying to figure out whether there’s anything we can realistically do besides just paying off the debt and eating the mistake.
He signed a 36 month contract, this reddit post can give more context: https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1r13j4h/free\_phones\_is\_it\_really/
Please help us!
Am I screwed?
I switched from Verizon to AT&T this month and my phone wasn’t completely paid off and got a bill for what’s remaining. Can att pay this? I still have the phone and haven’t traded it in yet. What should I do?
Can I payoff my phone without losing trade in credit?
Hi everyone!
I just purchased an iphone 17 pro yesterday and traded in my iphone 14 today for about $830 credit. I have about $400ish left but it is refinanced through AT&T for 36 months. I don’t mind paying the $13.06 over 36 months but I am traveling tomorrow to Asia for a month. I need an esim but airalow and other providers require my phone to be unlocked.
I know the general consensus is to wait 1-2 billing cycles to ensure the credit won’t be lost, but can I pay it off before then so I can use the phone without losing that trade in credit?
Thanks in advance
Day 25: no internet
Never imagined this was possible in the middle of Los Angeles. But here we are: I’ve called and texted and apped myself silly.
I have filed complaints with FCC and CA.
Guess I’ll just keep filing them.
Lied to about Trade in Value
I went into the store today to upgrade my phone. I told them I didn’t want the iPhone 17. I was happy with a cheap option of the 15 or 16. He asked about the condition of my 14pro. I told him the battery was shot & wouldn’t turn on without being plugged in. I said it was cracked on both sides, it was ran over by a truck & if I took the case off the insides would fall out the back. He told me he could get me $830 trade in value for it. Told me to take it home, make sure everything transfers correctly & then I can come drop it off & to make sure I get the $830 for it. I thought that didn’t make any sense but was stoked about a good deal.
Everything I’m reading says that is B.S. & most likely will get maybe $36 for it. The deal was $7.5/month for 36m financing. What can I do about this?
AT&T Told Me to Keep My $10 Fiber Plan When I Moved… Then Said It Was Never Possible
I recently lived in an apartment complex that had a deal with AT&T for 1G fiber internet for only $10/month. Obviously an insanely good deal.
I recently bought a house and called AT&T to cancel the service. The rep told me I should pause it instead because my new house was also in the area and had fiber access, so they could just transfer the service there. I specifically told her that I thought the $10 price was probably tied to the apartment complex somehow because there’s no way normal 1 gig fiber is that cheap. She basically said, “Yeah it’s a great deal, keep it.”
So I paused the service since I had about a month overlap between moving out of the apartment and into the house.
Then a new resident moved into my old apartment and apparently when they tried to activate internet service, AT&T canceled mine completely. I called back and explained everything, and this rep basically said the first agent was wrong and there was never any way I could get 1 gig fiber at my house for $10/month. Which honestly makes sense, but it’s still frustrating getting completely different answers from the same company.
The manager I spoke with said he understood the situation and would try to work out some kind of discounted rate as a compromise because of the misinformation. He told me he’d call me back later that day.
That was two weeks ago and I’ve never heard back from anyone.
At this point I’m less annoyed about losing the $10 deal and more annoyed that I got bounced around with conflicting information and then ghosted after being promised a callback. Has anyone had a similar experience or know if it’s worth even calling them again?
Questionable billing practices? Changing the price and features of an exisiting plan
Unlimited starter was altered to include more hot spot for a higher price.
Why not just make a new plan for people who wanted more hot spot?
I get thaz its in the fine print, but that doesnt make it ethical.
It seems like a shady attempt to increase proffits.
Also, customer service is becoming increasingly more difficult with the automated bot and their insistsnce on scheduling a call back that isnt even available until the following buisness day.
Locked Out of Online Account
I have been locked out of my account for over a month. I can use either my email or my phone number for the username and enter my password. It then wants to send a code for third party / multi factor authentication but my phone number does not show up as an option to send it to. The other 6 phone numbers on my families plan all show up, but mine does not. I have tried re-adding my phone number multiple times. It's been probably a month or so since the last time I re-added my phone number. I have chatted with support more times than I can count. Nobody has managed to get my phone number to show back up. I have tried fresh browsers, multiple devices, clearing cookies and cache, incognito. Someone please help.
Severe signal issues since bill paid
Im not sure if it's just coincidence, but Ive been having constant signal problems all day and my bill was paid this morning as well. And there were no issues at all yesterday. And from what I've gathered, there is no signal outages or anything in my area so I'm at a complete loss as to the problem. I have reset my phone and have done the airplane mode reconnect thing. Any advice as to what to look for or do is appreciated.
Mexico (and Canada) Roaming
I know Mexico and Canada roaming have been included in AT&T's plans for years. I have yet to take advantage of this benefit. Just a general question (because I cannot tell from the T&C's) but is the roaming limited to 4G or can you also get 5G (I have Elite 1.0)? I figured one or two people on this forum has visited one or both of these countries and could share their experience? Thanks!
Insurance is a scam?
2nd time having to replace my phone due to internal defects within a year and make me pay $400 deductible for another pos refurbished phone.
Is there a better option?
Guidance on choosing a new cell plan? ...
We have 6 lines on I think one off the old "Unlimited Your Way" or similar plans. They added $5 per line and now were around $250 for the total monthly bill w taxes and fees. And wondering if I should be an another plan. I want the bill to go down, or stay the same w more features.
None of us use a ton of data and are on wifi most of the time.
When I get on the AT&T chat they're unable or willing to give any guidance and just share the link to the current plans LOL. I REALLY wish there was a calculator that showed what your bill would be with taxes and fees with each scenario.
Anyway, anyone else here in a similar situation? Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I apparently owe $600 after switching owners for my account
Hi, so in April I swapped ownership of my account to my brother so we could get his military discount. Guy at the store swapped it over no trouble and said we didn't have to worry about the old account as it was now closed. But now I get an email saying I now owe almost $600 in past due payments even though I was told my account was canceled and settled?
