Anyone else feel like Michols completely misrepresented his relationship with his mother?

I’m not sure if anyone has already brought this up but last season and most of this season he gave the impression that has mom basically disowned him because he was gay. That was the storyline. I felt awful for him as someone who left a very religious background myself. Now, seeing the way he interacted with his mother last episode, I think he mischaracterized the situation and I wish his mother stood up for herself more.

Hearing him say, as a child she would ask him if he was gay and reaffirm him that it was okay, and she would love him no matter what…. I was shocked. She has every right to be pissed about how he spoke about her on the show. Also the scene where she dropped the phone call, I was so upset for Micholas, and now to hear that she was literally at the doctors and couldn’t talk in that moment. He’s creating a narrative. The constant push back of, “this was my truth, and my feelings at the time” is valid to a point but there is also THE truth.
