Someone Stop Me Before I Plant Again

Someone Stop Me Before I Plant Again

(first time posting to this sub)

Around the beginning of April, I thought I'd try to grow some catnip. I was growing indoors because there's no soil here and the temperature is triple digits.

It is important to note that I have never successfully grown anything else in my life.

At first, nothing took. Should have been simple enough, it's a weed, really, a member of the mint family, it should be practically impossible NOT to grow. Two months and 36 growing attempts later, I had nothing but empty soil for my troubles. I tried everything from meticulously planting individual seeds to wanton scattering. Not one single sprout.

I went online searching for solutions and a small hydroponic system on Amazon caught my eye, so I ordered it. This was the end of May. The catnip popped up like crazy in the hydroponic system, and I also found out that the seeds needed to be "cold stratified" if they were going in dirt. So I froze and then soaked some seeds and tried planting them in soil. The next thing I knew I had more catnip sprouts than I could count... both in the hydro rig and in the soil pods. It was an amazing feeling to see all these little things come to life because I'd done something right.

And then, it occurred to me that I could grow Other Things.

That's the last clear thought I had before I was, apparently, possessed by some sort of gardening spirit.

A little over a month later and my house looks like a plant nursery. I've got 12 varieties of tomatoes going; pinto beans, mammoth snow peas, cilantro, ghost peppers, mini bell peppers, Paris market carrots, some small melons, lots of different herbs... over 200 seedlings. I'm getting Amazon and Walmart deliveries almost every day, more items to feed my new gardening addiction.

Right now, I need more lights and larger containers - both of which should be arriving tomorrow. And I am resisting the urge to put more seeds down.

Honestly, I never expected so many of the seeds to sprout. And I know I should be culling more, but I've become emotionally attached to my little green babies!

For crying out loud, I've named my beanstalks! (Audrey, Trey, and Lucy, pictured, if anyone's curious).

Split Deliveries Question

This question is actually for people who deliver for Walmart, but I was told to post in this customer forum.

Sometimes when I ordered groceries delivered, there are one or two items that come separately from the main delivery. Let say I tipped $10 for the total order, and the bulk of the ordered is delivered the next morning. I assume that driver gets the tip. What about the poor guy who delivers a single bottle of shampoo (that was part of the larger order) later that night? Does he get any of that tip? Does anyone know? Thanks!
