going from FOH -> BOH

looking for advice regarding this. ive worked in a tiny kitchen before so ik what boh work entails; currently working at a chain place and i have a great rapport with the cooks and dishwashers and love working with them but im a food runner and expeditor, i feel like foh people are alright but we dont rlly vibe like i do with the cooks. food running is also kind of annoying, i only make like 500/week because i cant get more than 25hrs ever at foh, but the cooks make about 1000/week working like 40hrs. im also a college student but i do need the money and wouldn't mind being a line cook again.

would you make the jump or wait for a server spot that will only come in like 6-12 months? im only rlly planning to work here for 2 yrs

FOH who washes dishes

im a food runner and expo at a corportate place; when I work mornings we have about 2hrs without any dishwasher from 2-4pm right after the lunch rush. safe to say the dishpit piles up a bit after we finish bussing. ive started hopping back there and clearing it from what one of the dishwashers showed me but i dont really know the intricacies of how much sanitizer to use on the machine or on the trays to soak silverware and bowls. was hoping for some advice for an unofficial dishwasher.

what should I cross train in?

been a runner for a bit; i was wondering what i should try to get cross trained in? at my chilis a lot of people are cross trained in everything but im just runner for now. was wondering if i cross train in anything would i get stuck only getting those shifts, like host, QA or whatnot. i'd like to cross train in server but also been considering QA as it is quite fun for me even though a lot of people consider it a punishment lol. ive been warned not to cross train in anything BOH as they'll only give you BOH shifts but im guessing QA is different?
