Achieved this whilst staying healthy
At the start of year 13, I felt overwhelmed by the immense pressure (exams, UCAS applications etc). I couldn’t revise without so much self doubt and was uninspired to write my UCAS applications. It was strange given that I was confident in year 12 (sitting comfortably at all As/A*s) and I was working out regularly.
I was only a month out from mock exams so I eventually stopped and re-evaluated my approach. Spending 6 hours in school worrying about exams and uni wasn’t going to cut it. So I set a strict rule that during lunch, I’d go on a walk (no homework, no text books). Secondly, I also allowed myself relax in between revision sessions (5 minutes doomscrolling and 25 minutes of active revision). Sometimes, I might relax for too long, but StudyScroll would block any distracting apps and ask me to answer exam questions. This gave me immense motivation to revise for longer.
And this method worked. I wasn’t burnt out. My productivity and time management improved (and my grades as well).
So my advice for new year 13s. Relax. Know when revision becomes excessive (unable to retain information and understand questions that you’d normally get). Go on a walk, improve your sleep, maybe even get a gym membership (although Calisthenics is something I prefer now).
Good luck this September y’all.
