You need single-leg endurance for toe taps because the movement constantly shifts body weight from one leg to the other. Each leg repeatedly acts as the primary support and propulsion leg while the opposite foot lightly taps the ground.

Started jumping rope 6 months ago

I started jumping rope 6 months ago and I feel healthier than ever before. I was so unhealthy back then i couldn't even run 200 metres or skip 30 times without huffing like a dog. Now I can do about 220-250(250 was my highest) skips a minute but only with normal jumps(both legs). Is it good enough? I've started learning the step-overs, double unders etc. but they put a lot of pressure on my shin and it hurts.

Help! Im a beginner, need advice in rope

This is my 5mm skipping rope , does ropes always look swirled when not in use? It always tangles when i try to do single side swings( even after i place 1-2 fingers in b/w). And also the rotations feel weak sometimes, is it because im not using enough power? Should i change it? Do in need to go for beaded ones?what is the standerd rope quality and measurement everyone buys?

I just started jumping rope and I have a few questions

I bought a cheap PVC rope and just kinda started. There is no routine to it, I try to jump for 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour, with intermittent pauses.
The reason I do this is because I have no option of tracking time for 2 min jumping, 30 sek pause.

Is this a bad thing or trivial?

The second thing I noticed and what isn't done here in the vids is, I double jump. Like I jump once when the rope is under me and a second time while it is above me. While it is mor strenuous, it helps me keep the rythm consistant. If I only jump once I tend to miss the timing.

Is this a bad thing and should I be incresing my tempo or force trying to make the jump without double jumping?

So I'm trying to get in shape, but I'm not spending a fortune on a crossrope. Paracord to the rescue.

Some Advice on Form (Again)

The first video was two weeks ago when my form was good, was barely tripping up, and was consistently getting into the flow. I was even faster and doing a bit with foot work. I was doing 15 min jump rope five times a week. However last week Thursday was the second clip and my form just went down hill. My arms were moving even though I was trying to not move them. Idk how my form went from better to worse that day. I whipped myself pretty badly after that day as well. How can I go back to using my wrists again and stop having flapping arms? Ive been doing jump rope for about 3-4 months so it was incredibly frustrating that my form got messed up. Note: Tried to practice jump rope form today and I felt so defeated. My form is still staying bad and whipped myself again so I decided to do a different workout instead. I don't like to give up but I'm at the point where I can't take it.

best beginner rope?

hi guys, i’m looking for the best beginner rope.

just wondering if these are fine choices, and which should i choose between the two, 5mm vs 6mm? i am 6ft tall and i believe both say they are 10ft long and adjustable, is 10ft too long or okay for me?

i used to love jump rope as a kid so i’m just getting back into it cause i enjoy it and maybe also as a once in a while cardio session.

thanks!

EDIT: thanks guys! i've decided to go with elitesrs' 1 inch beaded rope. : )

How much is possible?

Hi everyone,
I started jumping 4 weeks ago after I found my old rope. I jumped a minute and got addicted. Then I started jumping 3 minutes (intervall one minute and 30 seconds pause). Then 5 minutes a day later and after ten days I was at 30 minutes pure jumping. I started to make it as my daily fitness routine.

But then my body realized, I started to heavy. After jumping ten days and increased the minutes I had hard pain in my knees so I stopped jumping. This was 2 weeks ago and I still feel it.
When I start again with a lot of breaks, it is possible to do it as a routine 30 minutes a day or is this not possible because it should only be done 2-3 times a week?
To me, I am 34 and a fit person.
Thanks and kind regards
