It Was Fun While It Lasted - A Thank You Notice

I had always wanted Kevin and Alex to do at least 1 more episode of Diggnation. They even got Hippie Glenn to make a cameo appearance on one of the episodes. Instead of just 1 episode, we got way more than that and I wanted to acknowledge that and say thank you to the Diggnation team. Alex, Kevin, Justin, and everyone that went out of their way to make this thing a reality.

I preferred the first run of diggnation because it was fun seeing the drunken shenanigans from Kevin and Alex. This time around, Kevin decided to go sober during a big part of the series, I prefer a drunk Kevin going on tech rants. So ultimately this reboot wasnt as fun as the first iteration of the show. But it was still a lot of fun to see the guys get back together for one last season.

Thank You to Kevin, Alex, Justin and everyone else that made this thing possible.

Finally started watching Stranger Things - I'm on Season 4

I'm late to the party but I finally started watching (binge watching) Stranger Things. I just started watching Season 4 this evening. Season 2 is my favorite so far because I love Bob (personally I work in IT and am very proficient with BASIC and I share his sense of humor, so I can relate to him) . When those demons took over the laboratory, it was insane. I have to admit, this show is crazy and intense. The kids are all huge smartasses and I love their sarcasm.

My favorite characters are Bob and Hopper.

quick backstory - i've been looking for something new to watch lately and a co-worker told me to watch Stranger Things, so I took his advice. The reason I didn't watch it until now is because the concept of a bunch of kids and monsters just sounded stupid to me - I was wrong.

New Episode of Digg?

It's been a month since the last episode was released. Did Alex and Kevin quit the project? I loved the show.

How often does Howard and the staff drink?

I read Howard Sterns book and he talks about the side effects of alcoholism and drinking. Gary said that Howard doesn't drink during the week. I heard that Gary doesn't drink during the wek either. We all know that Richard drinks all day every day.

I'm surprised Richard has managed to keep his job all these years. If I drank as much as he did, I'd be in the hospital.

soon to be homeless, moving to Houston

I am 39m no kids or family to support. Currently I live in the Rio Grande Valley. I have a WFH job that pays $11 per hour (I know it sucks but I have a studio apartment where the rent + overhead is around $700 a month, so its sustainable). However I got sick for 2 weeks in early May and missed 2 weeks worth of work. I'm not a drug addict or alcoholic (I've never done drugs and I can pass a drug test); it's just I always get sick with the flu once a year. However, my landlord has a rule where I am required to pay 100% full rent on the first of every month, no exceptions. I worked enough hours the past couple of weeks where I'm getting around $350 this upcoming pay day on Friday.

So I was thinking about using that $350 to get a one-way ticket to Houston, and searching for some social workers that can help me find a shelter and a job.

I have a background in tech, I've been studying for the A+, Network+ and Security certifications. I'd consider myself a mid-level IT Technician. So I'm not a fuck-up by any means, its circumstances outside of my control put me in this situation.

Does anyone have any recommendations on social workers and shelters that can house me and possibly help me find a better job? I can keep my job and still move to Houston, but $11 per hour is not going to be sufficient in Houston.

Or any wisdom at all.

I MEANT - IS IT SAFE TO UPDATE NOW

I recently read a public announcemenet from Canonical that they had the DDOS attacks under control, therefore its safe to download 26.04?

Is that true?

edit: I didn't mean that the isos werent available or safe to download. But I am not going to do fresh install of any OS in general if I can't immediately install the updates that are available for the Base OS.

And for the record - no it is not safe to run an unpatched OS on the internet, even if it is linux

Cinnamon is my favorite DE, but the last time I used Fedora 43 cinnamon, it was way too buggy. I'm on a Ryzen 5 System with 32GB of RAM and 2 SSD's (Skynix and Samsung) I want to try Fedora 44 but I don't want to waste my time if Cinnamon hasn't been updated. Has anyone tested it?

Ggenerally speaking, I don't drink much at all. However, I do keep various alcohol in the house for guest-related functions - I'm having a girl over for a date, I'm throwing a party, lunch, dinner, or when I'm having friends over for a UFC event or NFL game.

My question is - is that proper etiquette or should I have my guests bring over their own alcohol?

originally I started doing this because there were times when I had girls over on a date and they always wanted a drink that I didn't have. So after a couple of times of that happening, I always started keeping a variety of drinks in stock. However over time, I discovered it was useful for when I'm having guests over in general.
