Career change advice

Hello! I am 36F, in Australia, and need a career change. For my first 12 working years, I was a youth worker, supporting homeless youth in a supported home situation. Then the last 4 years I have been managing the house, which involves budgeting, managing staff and working with families.

It’s time for a change, and I’m interested in being a draftsperson/architectural designer. I’m good with computers and spacial puzzles, I like drawing, and I feel I have given all I can in my previous role.

While I retrain, what entry level roles can I do to get in and around the world I want to enter? Any advice from people who have done big career changes in their 30s?

Deinfluence me - Knit patch” on my Facebook ads

Deinfluence me: my targeted adds are showing me this little embroidery thingy. So cute!

I do like to repair my clothes and sew little patches, and this looks like it would make that easier?? Deinfluence me from buying from the ad please.

ULPT Request: How to use my fertility leave days that I do not need.

I am currently on maternity leave with a beautiful little baby conceived via IVF. My workplace has generous fertility leave, I can claim 15 days a year of leave for fertility appointments.

I’m not planning on doing IVF for at least another few years (if at all) but I’d sure like a few days off across the year (like 4/5 days, nothing crazy).

What sort of treatment might a person need that would require an appt before undertaking ivf? The actual treatment cycles are too intensive to claim, my boss is aware that egg retrieval or placing eggs need a few days off, and I don’t want to be asked how a cycle went and then have to claim it didn’t take.

Is there something you needed to get under control before undertaking ivf that needed a maintenance appointment every so often?

“Should I drop off this box of clothes at the thrift shop this weekend?”

“No one will want that old stuff, there’s been no need for sweaters in Canada for the last 20 years.”
