Keyboard issues since update earlier this week

Since installing the update back on May 3, my phone has been having issues with swiping/gliding on all keyboards. I haven't been able to figure out how to replicate the issue intentionally. Usually when I first start using the phone after it being in pocket for a while, it will act like gliding is disabled. I currently have Gboard set is my default keyboard. If I open the keyboard selector popup and select either gboard or samsung, gliding suddenly works. However, it will still intermittently just stop working. In addition, it almost never works in the address bar/search bar of the browser. Setting default back to the Samsung keyboard has not fixed this. Anyone know of a fix? My fat fingers cannot cope with trying to type accurately on a tiny phone keyboard.

edit: I have just figured out/noticed/realized that the keyboard looks different when the gliding isn't working. The image with the emoji button next to the space bar is correct and allows gliding, while the other one does not. Does this help narrow it down?

edit 2: If I'm deducing correctly, I think when it doesn't work, it's because it is acting like I'm entering a password. That would make sense, as the recent update was a security update.

Automatic wiper issue

Any info on why this might be happening? There was a bit of rain while we were in a restaurant, which was wiped clear immediately, but then the entire drive home the wipers did exactly this. If I turn them off and then back on, they wipe once as usual, wait maybe 20 seconds, then wipe constantly from that point on.
