Free festival pins from Olivia Rodrigo merch

EDIT: these are all spoken for by local pickups. Sorry!

ordered the official pin set from her site: https://store.oliviarodrigo.com/products/daisy-chain-fields-pin-set?srsltid=AU7gw4WMI4tQQ5ijktPZoN7gzXYRa0oUanwSDh4u-oqR37hFJj6g3-cH, and for some reason they sent six (!) sets. While I am not willing to go through the effort of mailing them, I am willing to drop them at the freeway-close Irvine UTC Taco Bell near my house.

Please note these pins are slightly bigger than the ones distributed at the festival’s org venue, so do not precisely fit the bag that was available there if that is your intention. You can make it work if you have some smaller pins to mix in. They’re well made if you want to use them for anything else.

DM if interested.

Shelf Break Coho salmon with kelp chili crisp

I bought this can on account of FOMO when the last freebie offer ran out. I am not the biggest fan of canned salmon but love kelp so it was not hard to pull the trigger. It's about four ounces; I don't recall the price, plus it was "discounted."

It's pretty enough in the can, as you can see. There is a little tomato in the sauce, which I think helps brighten the color.

The salmon was fine, skin on and zero bones. I need those bones for calcium, but know plenty would appreciate the lack of them.

I was starving and had them on furikake rice; five-spice pickled carrots; delicious spiced pickled red onions; some random Starbucks avocado spread; and a bit of Kewpie mustard.

On a hotness scale of one to ten, one being Mayo American and ten being "My wife is Thai," I'd rate these about a three. The heat did increase a bit with the entire can eaten and left some residual heat. Not enough kelp for me, alas. It smelled a bit strong for salmon, so I ate it outside on the patio of shame.

I'm not saying it had no depth, but it did not change my life. Perhaps I should have eaten it plain, as my attention was distracted by pickled onions.

Not a repeat for me. I think it's time to admit I don't enjoy canned salmon the way I did when I was young and poor.

Halloween Peelerz, yay or nay?

I do a significant candy bag for trick or treaters each year, always including some Halloween variation of gummies. (I recommend the gummy eyeballs and gummy tarantulas from Oriental Trading Company). I found these in their catalog this year but when I went to my pharmacy to eyeball them, they were not there, despite the advertisement.

I do not like wet gummies like these, but if they would be attractive to kids, I’d buy them anyway. I’m wondering if anyone has seen them up close and can tell me if they look like actual fingers or what have you? If they aren’t recognizable, nothing else matters.

All feedback welcome.

What bracelet do I make with this makeup charm?

It was twenty-five cents for four so I couldn’t help myself. I thought SURELY with all these female artists there will be a couple of makeup lyrics? Hours of listening and I haven’t picked up on any. Maybe all these baddies go barefaced? In theory I could Chappell Roan it but the colors aren’t vivid enough. All feedback welcome.

Recent guesses?

Might as well go for broke!

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Alanis Morissette. She left a planned performance with Olivia Rodrigo a few years back making vague references to sexist production. (Not at the hands of Olivia.) And she lives in LA.

Halfway there

I think this is the first K-Pop group I’ve ever really noticed. (Remember, I’m old.) I enjoy some of it, but the lyrics seem pretty simple compared to other acts. I know I will enjoy this set, but I can’t imagine camping on a phone for it.

Open to others’ thoughts.

I played… myself?

Two weeks ago I brought home two shelter cats for my husband, who hasn’t been able to adjust to being an empty nester after losing our old (twenty-one years) boy last year. As part of their early transition, you are encouraged to feed them “stinky” food so they’ll come out of wherever they’re hiding. Suddenly it hit me, had I actually adopted these two in order to convince my husband there was a legitimate reason to open sardines *in* the house?

Joke’s on me, they don’t like sardines. They’ve likely been at the shelter too long to adjust to a different diet any time soon.

They aren’t allowed outside on the patio of shame, so it will continue to be my lonely fish refuge.

Jose Gourmet Mackerel in Curry Sauce

I had planned a specific dish for my second can of Patagonia sardines in curry sauce. The first can was a little blah so I made some coconut rice with a little sweet red pepper and Thai basil added in the last ten minutes of the rice cooker cycle to give it more depth. For extra zip, I had this lightly spicy lime leaf sambal, which is hot sauce adjacent.

When I went to heat up the sardines, lo! I could not find them. I hate to think I donated the one-two punch of meh sardines—sure to disappoint anyone, regardless of sardine feelings—but they were gone. Instead I had to use what was sure to be a can that needed no assistance, this curried mackerel. I was a little confused reading the label. The curry sauce consisted solely of mustard, vinegar, some curry powder and chilies? Turns out that’s a thing: Kasundi, or mustard curry. You learn something new every day.

Sorry there are no further pictures. How does one steady an exceedingly hot tin in order to neatly open it, let alone take a photo? How does one refrain from eating delicious spicy mackerel before it cools down? I may never know, but am open to tips.

True to its name, the sauce was akin to one of mustard, just punched up. Really thick and delicious, as was the fish. There was no need of the sambal, as the sauce was decently spicy, but it was not unwelcome. I will buy again for sure.

Behold

Not only is King Oscar Mediterranean back this week, it is deeply discounted at my Krogers. I live in a VHCOLA; as you can see, this is close to half off and a solid price for us. All products are on sale but plain sardines (Tiny Tots are on sale, however). They aren’t stocking a deep list, but this store never has.

I thought about ordering one. I’ve never tried it as I’m not a fan of olives, but what if it’s life changing? Then I thought out how that might impact one of you and left it there.

Don’t give up hope!
