Shadowing etiquette

Hi everyone! Tomorrow is my first day shadowing an inpatient PA and I’m super nervous. I’m planning to bring a small notebook to take notes but I’d really appreciate advice on proper shadowing etiquette.

I don’t want to interrupt their workflow by asking too many questions, especially if they’re busy. Should I mostly stay quiet and be a fly on the wall then save my questions for downtime? Is there anything you wish students knew before shadowing you?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Passed the RD exam! (on my 4th try)

Just passed! I got a 15–19–22–25. It was such a depressing journey. I see so many posts about people passing on the first try, if you are struggling currently to pass after multiple attempts, here’s what worked for me; First thing I highly suggest is don’t wait too long to take your next test. I thought pushing off my exam date / studying for 2 months straight would make me pass..It didn’t! As soon as I failed my 3rd attempt, I booked another test 6 weeks out asap. I was able to salvage my active recall from the last test and just focus on the domains I was weakest at. I studied way less on my last attempt and solely focused on knowledge gaps. Dana Fryer’s membership program was excellent at helping me know exactly what to focus on. I also got tutored by her and she’ll identify your weak spots and assign you homework. She sends you quizzes and mock exams on any topic you have trouble with. I’ve tried visual veggies and MyRDguide on my first & second attempt, I liked Dana’s program the best. I also bought the eat right prep mock exams and I made anki decks of the wrong answers and used chatgpt to simplify why I got it wrong. I know AI is bad but I found it extremely helpful to simplify explanations. Also, I know pocket prep works for a lot of people but I didn’t like it. It stressed me out and the questions were way too wordy for me. I worked full time as a dietitian during my studies so for my last exam attempt, I allowed myself to relax during the week and barely studied. I would just do 5 hr study stretches over the weekends with occasional days off. On the day of the test, pretend it’s a mock exam. Don’t overthink the questions, your first guess will probably be right. I would not start switching up your answers! Read the questions slowly and identify what is there to distract you from what it’s really asking. Good luck!!!

Nausea in the gym

I want to start going to the gym 5 days a week, but my nausea is getting in the way. It starts even when I’m just driving to the gym. I start feeling nauseous and it gets worse when I actually start lifting. Happens more often in the early AM before work, but it also has happened in the afternoons. Idk if it’s my nerves since the gym is more like a chore to me, but it’s getting in the way of doing my best.. I drink a chobani yogurt and some water before going but I’m not sure if that’s enough. I also take a zofran on occasion if it’s rlly bad (which I’d like to stop doing lol)

Eat right prep vs pocket prep mock exams

Hi! I’m studying for the RD exam for the 4th time.

So far during this study period, I got an 83 and a 79 on 2 of the EatRight Prep mock exams. My last study session, I was still getting in the 60s on Dana fyer mock exams, so i already feel a little more confident. However, I’m still scared it’s not enough because I constantly see people on here talking about Pocket Prep scores.

Honestly Pocket Prep completely destroys my confidence. The questions feel way harder and more intimidating to me than the actual exam, and even when I do smaller build your own quizzes I end up scoring in the 50s. My brain literally hurts trying to read some of the questions compared to the actual test style.

Has anyone passed without pocket prep? I’m using mainly using EatRight Prep mock exams, Dana Fryer’s program, and Inman Quizlets. I’m trying to actually pass this time (I went from a 15 to a 19 to a 22 score so far). I’m wondering if I really need to force myself through Pocket Prep as well.

Anyone have any ideas on how to transform this?

I got this tattoo way too young and hate it now (it was supposed to be a fine line chain with metal lockets hanging from it). And I hate that it’s a garter 🤦‍♀️ I was quoted 5k to remove it.. so I’ve been thinking about a cover-up instead. I’m already heavily tattooed everywhere else, so adding more work wouldn’t look out of place.
Thinking of doing ornamental over it but I’m scared it’ll just make it look heavier or more obvious instead of actually improving it. Has anyone successfully disguised a garter tattoo? I’d love honest opinions/advice before I make it worse!
