Desperately need advice and motivation for the exam

I have never been more stressed, sad, and angry in my life.

I have been studying for the exam for a month, average of 4 days a week, 6 hrs a day, and I am already extremely burnt out. I work 2 days a week, and 1 day is for leisure time.

However, The more I study, the more I realize how much I don’t know. I keep forgetting the stuff I memorized.
I have developed frequently headaches, insomnia, and GERD -GERD at 25 years old!!

I am getting more and more discouraged, angry, and uninterested as time goes on. Whenever I sit down to study for the exam, I have extreme anxiety.

I basically need advice/tips/tricks etc for studying, mindset… At this point I feel like it is impossible to pass the exam and I see no point studying. Btw, I was a top student all my life.

(Btw, i do not have anxiety/depression. I have a psychiatrist for ADHD so i am seeing a mental health professional. I am simply burnt out and frustrated with being abused by our system. I had a horrible internship experience, so that added to my frustration)

Recommendations on choosing study materials for the exam?

Hi all! I just graduated and planning to take the RD exam in August. I’m not the best at studying by reading books on my own, and I’m more of a visual learner.

For my first attempt, I’m considering purchasing either RD Boot Camp or Dana Fryer. Does anyone have any recommendations or feedback on these two resources? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences!

Passed CDR on 1st try!

Hi all! Just took the CDR and passed on first try. I used pocket prep only + ChatGTP for learning anything I didn't understand. The questions I got were very random. However, I was able to pass because I would read the question a few times through and identify what the question was actually asking. This is key. That + eliminating wrong answers really helped me. Some answers were "fitting" but not exactly tied to what the question was asking. Anyway, hope this helps someone!

Is dietary aide a good first job?

I’ve never had a job before but I plan to apply to a dietary aide position very soon. My friend is discouraging me saying I should work in retail first. I think I’d be okay as an aide as I can be a very patient and understanding person, and I want to work in the med field later in life so I’d like to get this job sooner rather than later. Thoughts? Thank you in advance

3RD TIMES A CHARM!!

I have taken this stupid test three times now!! Friday was my last time (and it was going to be my last one even if I didn’t pass lol).

The first time I took it I had literally just given birth and spent 2 months studying with an infant hanging from my boob and napping in my lap. Failed with a 21.

The second time I spent a month studying and failed with a 21.

I used EatRightPrep tests, PocketPrep, PasstheDietitian, RDBootcamp. None of that worked, because even though I was using study material, my studying had no structure.

What helped me pass was really understanding the material. My rule of thumb was if I can’t explain a concept to an audience…I don’t really know it. I spent two months with a whiteboard, All Access Pass Class, PocketPrep, Quizlet, YouTube, Google and ChatGPT. I’ll link the Quizlet that helped me in the comments. If anybody else would like any help feel free to message me!! Good luck!!

Got a 24 on My Exam

Feeling defeated honestly by being so close but not passing my exam. I went through the entire PocketPrep questions, did all their mock exams, did all the ERP questions and exams, and listened to Inman and all the Chomping Down Dietetics podcast episodes. If I got a question wrong on PocketPrep I’d write down the question and make a flash card. By the end of it, I had about 300 flashcards.

My main issue was I truly did not know a lot of the information on the exam. It was a lot of intense MNT questions that I didn’t know the answer to. Or a lot of questions were there were two possible choices and I likely chose the wrong one.

My domain I&II was 13 and domain III&IV was 16. So I know I’m close. Do you have to get a 15 in each?

A friend gave me her AllAccessPass, is it worth trying this? Should I purchase Dana Fryer’s tutoring? I saw she had a MNT bundle and maybe I need that? I’m just feeling discouraged because I feel like my life has been put on hold.

Western vs for Dietetics Masters program. Which program is better?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide between two Master programs and would really appreciate any advice or insight.
I’ve been accepted into:
- Western University: MSc Foods & Nutrition (with practicum at London Health Sciences Centre), 3 semesters
- TMU (Toronto Metropolitan University): Master of Nutrition Communication (Fall cohort), 4 semesters

I’m hoping to become a Registered Dietitian and want to keep my options open not just in Canada, but possibly internationally.

My main question is:
Which program would be the better choice in terms of reputation, job opportunities, and overall career flexibility after graduation?
Does one stand out more on a resume, or are they viewed pretty equally?
Any experiences, opinions, or advice would be really helpful, especially from current students, grads, or RDs.

Thanks so much!

Going back to uni as a (very) mature aged student?

Hi all,

I'm 35 years old and currently work in Marketing in Australia. I have almost 12 years experience in my job and am in desperate need of a career pivot.

Back in 2013 I actually got in to a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics course at the uni of Newcastle, but pursued a Masters in Advertising instead. Now that I'm fairly far in my career, I've realised this is just not my end job. I've always had a passion for nutrition and health (especially as someone with PCOS), so I'm keen to make a big move.

My plan is to do the 2 pre-requisites required as night courses whilst I continue working full time and then look at options on how I could do this alongside my job for as long as possible.

I suppose my question is...has anyone else done this? I remember a 'mature age student' in Australia is defined as someone 25+, but I'm well beyond that, so I'm wondering if this is a silly move or not. I feel my marketing background could be my competitive edge when marketing my services, but I'm also conscious that I'll be over 40 when I would be a fully qualified Dietitian :')

Study materials and mock exams

Hi everyone! I am planning to take my exam in a few weeks, I have been using All Access to study. My school provided us access to EatRightPrep, and I have been averaging around 75% on those exams. I also have pocket prep, but I am not doing so well on those exams and quizzes. Whenever I do a quick 10 quiz, I will sometimes get all of them right or sometimes only 4. I am not sure why I am doing well on other exams but not PocketPrep, and it’s making me very nervous! Has anyone else experienced this? Which is more comparable to the actual exam?

Eat right prep vs pocket prep mock exams

Hi! I’m studying for the RD exam for the 4th time.

So far during this study period, I got an 83 and a 79 on 2 of the EatRight Prep mock exams. My last study session, I was still getting in the 60s on Dana fyer mock exams, so i already feel a little more confident. However, I’m still scared it’s not enough because I constantly see people on here talking about Pocket Prep scores.

Honestly Pocket Prep completely destroys my confidence. The questions feel way harder and more intimidating to me than the actual exam, and even when I do smaller build your own quizzes I end up scoring in the 50s. My brain literally hurts trying to read some of the questions compared to the actual test style.

Has anyone passed without pocket prep? I’m using mainly using EatRight Prep mock exams, Dana Fryer’s program, and Inman Quizlets. I’m trying to actually pass this time (I went from a 15 to a 19 to a 22 score so far). I’m wondering if I really need to force myself through Pocket Prep as well.
