Everything requires login now?

Maybe this was discussed extensively already, but is Maps really requiring login for everything now?

Even for something as simple as viewing business hours, I now get prompted with:

Sign-in to get the best of Google Maps

Reviews & photos: Read and search through every review and photo.
Saved places. Keep track of your favorites with lists that you can share.
Personalized travel. Get instant travel times to your frequent places, like home and work.

Note that business hours isn't listed as part of the "best of Google Maps."

Reviews are the same, can't simply view those anymore either.

It just gets worse every day (and certainly nothing like the Google of old).

Long-term bad time without a motorbike?

The posts on why not to drive a motorbike in Pattaya, and Thailand in general, are legion, even from long-time, experienced riders.

For short stays just using the apps makes a lot of sense, but for those living in and around Pattaya long-term, how inconvenient is it without a scooter?

Say you're not in central Pattaya, maybe you're in Pratumnak or some other place outside the core and off the baht bus routes, is it very isolated and limiting?

Rideshares can get expensive every day: a quick check for a random spot in Pratumnak to Central showed ~฿100 for Grab and ~฿225-240 for Bolt (scarce?) right now. (Note: this was car pricing, not motorbike, which is a lot cheaper.)

And bikes/e-bikes danger same same or possibly worse.

I like walking and do it often, but long distances in scorching temperatures trying to get somewhere to relax and eat comfortably == no fun.

Anybody have an interesting solution for or can share experiences with this?

Banana outage in your area?

Silly one for the day, are bananas out for anybody else?

I'm talking about the Seven kind, which have gone missing at all three of my local branches for nearing two weeks I think.

I don't think they all share the same owner but am not sure, do all branches use the same corporate supply chain? (It would make sense, but actually there are differences in inventory between certain branches.)

My current theory has the refineries stuck with thousands of full rotting barrels, unable to leave the Strait...

AIS sim card/app and other apps outside Thailand

Hi, serious question, if returning to the US for a personal emergency, can I still use my Thai bank app, AIS, and Line apps to pay rent and other bills, keep in contact with the landlord, etc.?

If it's tied to my AIS sim card, which I assume is the case, what then? Can I use the Thai sim card from the US?

I don't think the apps would work if I swap back in my US sim card with a different number from another provider, right?

Anybody else around who's dealt with this situation before?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, time is short, a little stressed with everything to do.
