Endoscopy pain when swallowing food and water and deep breaths

Hey all, I had an endoscopy yesterday around 9 am to check if I still had gastritis. They took quite a few biopsies. After a few hours of coming home, while laying down, I started feeling pain in my upper-mid back. It hurts when I drink water, swallow food, or breathe deeply. It’s day 2, 6 pm and it feels like it may have improved but I am not sure. The doctors office I got it done at isn’t open today (since it’s Saturday). Is this normal?

WIBTAH if I decline to pet-sitting my grandparents’ newly disabled dog?

I (F25) feel like I need an outside perspective because I’m leaning toward declining a favor for my grandparents, and I want to know if I’m being unreasonable.

Right now I’m actually out of the country on vacation with my fiancée (we’ve been a cross-country long-distance couple for over three years and just got engaged), and I’m not due back home until July 18. I only found out about this whole situation a few days ago, via text from my parents while I’ve been away.

My grandpa (80s) and step-grandma (70s) have had a 9-day trip to the further north in my state. This was planned for months alongside with my aunt, uncle and cousin. But about a week or two ago their 5-6 year old dog suddenly developed severe eye issues, and a specialist confirmed he’s now had pretty much completely blind, with an active infection and high inflammation.

Because of this, my grandpa asked if I could live at his house for all 9 days to care for their dog, and the medical routine is a lot. It starts with four different eye drops, an hour apart, twice a day (8–11 AM, then again 6–9 PM… which my dad only told me of), plus pills, feedings, and walks. My dad informed me that they’re hoping that’ll be better with the meds by then too? I don’t know.

Also I live 10 minutes away but don’t want to live at his house for over a week, and moving their dog to my family’s place isn’t an option since it would be terrifying for a newly blind dog.

I’d also be alone there the entire time with basically nothing to do except be on my phone, which makes the ask feel even more isolating.

UPDATE 07/10
Hey everyone, thanks so much for the input. My family and I were just updated that they have canceled their trip entirely due to their dog having critical eye inflammation and the risk of him needing surgery to potentially remove both eyes. They’re staying home to manage his medication and monitor him full-time, which I think is definitely the best thing for him right now. Thanks again everyone.

Edit: after reading some of the comments saying I’m the asshole, I do understand your perspective. It was entitled to be worried about being bored. Of course that wasn’t my only concern, but it was wrong for me to be worried about that. Honestly, my sole concern was if I was going to be able to handle the task, as I am not experienced with taking care of a disabled pet. And yes, I do have a job currently, just remotely. However it does take most of my day and I am constantly in meetings and calls. Also, I’m currently out of the country, meaning not in the US. They asked me to take care of their dog starting on July 27 until August. I also have a medical procedure on July 27 so things were really not good timing for me. Sorry all for the lack of details, I made this post pretty quickly without thinking of every detail. I was kind of panicking.

Hi all, F24. I’ve been dealing with GERD and gastritis since late 2021. About three weeks ago I switched to a blander diet, and since late March I’d been taking 20mg of omeprazole. Around that same time I started getting pain in my upper middle-right torso, which I’m pretty sure is my gallbladder. Two days ago I stopped the omeprazole and the pain dropped off significantly almost right away, but now my acid reflux is starting to creep back. I know you’re supposed to wean off omeprazole gradually, but the gallbladder pain was getting to be too much. Right now I’m managing with slippery elm in water twice a day and Pepcid at night before bed. I’m also considering zinc carnosine, L-glutamine, and maybe Gaviscon, though I’m hesitant about the potential side effects. Also I have an appointment with my primary care doctor next week and I’m thinking of asking for another H. pylori test, since I haven’t had one since 2022. Has anyone dealt with something similar?
