Double Dropper (19, SC) with 66% in 12th CBSE Registered for NIOS for placement safety—is it worth the distraction from JEE 2027?

Hey everyone, I am a 19-year-old (SC category) and a double dropper preparing for JEE Mains 2027

Here is my dilemma: I secured 66% in my 12th CBSE boards I am worried about future college placement eligibility—specifically the 70% or 80% criteria that some high-paying companies supposedly have—I recently registered for the NIOS board exams to try and improve my percentage.

However, I am severely conflicted now. I am worried that managing NIOS exams will derail my focus from JEE Mains 2027( aiming to NIT), which is my top priority

  1. How badly will a 66% CBSE score hurt my placement opportunities (both on-campus and off-campus) if I have strong coding skills and a good college CGPA?
  2. Does having an NIOS certificate as a double dropper look like a red flag to recruiters during interviews?
  3. Should I drop the NIOS plan entirely and put 100% of my energy into JEE Mains, or is fixing the 66% absolutely necessary for safety?
