Does battery change warrant a backup and restore?

Planning to go for battery change for my phone and wanted to check if I need to backup the data before the swapping?

Does removing battery cause any data loss?
Thanks!

My cousin recently purchased a pre-owned Tata Tigor with push button start. The broker only provided one key fob.

Here is what has happened over the last few days:

After driving about 100 km to a specific destination, the fob stopped working while he was trying to lock the car. He replaced the battery, but that didn't help.

Since he was in a hurry, he manually locked all the doors. When he returned, the fob still wouldn't work, so he tried to use the physical key. However, the key would not turn in the lock at all.

Ultimately, he had to call for help to open the door using a scale. The car flagged this as a break-in and wouldn't start for several minutes due to the immobilizer. After multiple attempts, the car finally started. He tried the buttons on the fob again, but they still didn't work.

Strangely, the fob started working again the next day—until he tried to use the manual key again, which caused the fob to fail once more.

What could be the possible reason for FoB stopped suddenly?

I suspect the previous owner might have provided a reprogrammed fob with the wrong physical key blade. Is that possible? Furthermore, why does the fob stop working when someone tries to open the car manually with the wrong key? Is this a standard security feature or a specific fault with his car?

Note: If you decide to test your backup keys, make sure to keep at least one window open in case the fob fails!
