allergies and irritation?

my dog every year gets really bad allergies and he tends to itch himself until he gets small bald spots, we usually try to get ahead of it but hes having a rough time this year. his vet recommended a bath with antibacterial soap for the spot he chewed up and then wearing his cone to avoid chewing which we have been doing but now it looks like this. i cant tell if this is good scabbing or possibly an infection and i want to clean it again gently but i dont want to irritate it. my vet is booked up for quite some time so i cant get him in quickly but i can try and rush that if suggested. he is going on Benadryl in addition to his daily thyro tabs. any other recommendations would be good, he hates the food powders ive tried those

feeding advice for babies?

im not new to snakes but i am new to hogs, ive had by baby for 8 days, he is supposed to be on a 1x 1-2g pinky every 5 days and unfortunately hasnt eaten since the day i got him and is overdue his meal. his breeder told me to scent his prey with sardines to see of he would eat, he so far has ignored 3 of them ive just been leaving a fresh one out for a day incase he wants it. hes in his first enclosure thats not a bin and woodchips so he has been busy burrowing and adjusting but if he continues to not eat what should i do? ive left him alone since i got him in hopes he will chill and not become stressed but i still worried especially since he will have missed 2 feedings if he continues to not eat. i can provide enclosure info or anything else

My cat is struggling with her cone, i need advice.

my cat got dental surgery today and i have noticed shes having issues with the cone, she keeps running into things with it, struggling to keep it clean, unable to relax and crying/growling. shes struggling to eat and drink with it on and so i did take it off for her wet food and shes been purring since i did so i feel bad adding it back. she had the same surgery about 2 years ago and they didn’t send us home with a cone but the new vet did this time. i dont want to make her more uncomfortable while recovering but the vet said 7 days of the cone.

edit i cant reply for some reason but she was having surgery for FORL and has stitches in her mouth

any advice for set up before i get a hognose

i am experienced in care for colubrids and i have a 55 gallon im establishing before i get it. whenever i get a hognose it will be my first fossorial species and i see conflicting info out there so i wanted to ask here. first off i want to create a bioactive enclosure, i have a very strong colony of white isopods and i plan to get additional species but im not sure of a proper ratio for the substrate and wether i should do layered or mixed, also im wondering what plants do well and if hognose will be as destructive as my kingsnake is. any additional info is welcomed but mainly im worried about set up conditions

my dog tends to fart and she sometimes does it when we cuddle or hang out on the couch and her farts stank bad so i had tried to get her to walk away. her vet checked her said it wasnt a health thing she just is farty. well cause shes a stank booty i would try and get her to not fart right next to me, trying to get her to walk away to fart but she instead learned to fart then run away.

my boy is 2 years old and is currently eating adult mice, has been for 2 weeks, his current schedule is 1 every saturday but since he was shedding we skipped. i know i need to eventually spread his meals out more than every 7 days, i planned to do so when he started rats. he is still growing length wise ~2 inches every shed and is shedding every other month. i work at a zoo and one of my friends in the vet team there has said they believe he is a healthy weight and his schedule is good, im just considering changing it now though since im already at 9 days instead of the normal 7.

to start this im 20 and both my dog and cat are 15 years old, my dog is in my dads care and the cat is in mine. i have to convince my dad to take the dog to the vet and last visit the vet decided it was time my dog needed dental extractions after he lost a tooth playing, they also were wanting to biopsy and remove some lumps on his chest, i am trying to convince my dad to cover it but after thinking more i worry about it since hes so old if he would be okay under anesthesia. he for his age is a very active and spirited dog with the only health issues being his teeth and hypothyroidism (hes medicated) so i feel he still has plenty of time left but i dont want it in discomfort. im not sure how dogs do with a major dental extraction and im worried overall

while figuring out what to do with the dog though my cat also started showing signs of mouth discomfort while eating and i realized her gums were red. shes had tooth extractions 3 years ago after similar circumstances before and was left with 13 remaining teeth most being in the back but i think the leftover teeth will need to go to after looking at the gums.

i know the cat did okay last time but now with both most likely needing it im in a panic, im scared they wont survive the procedures and if they do, id take in my dads dog during recovery but i live in a condo and dealing with 2 post op animals at once while working 40+hrs and living alone makes me nervous to think about. not sure what to do
