Wedding customs

I grew up reform marrying into modern orthodox family (groom side)

I’ve been to a bunch of their weddings , and have never seen benchers before

Is this the norm to put of friends of the bride and grooms tables?

Wedding dress

Dress question - nyc bridal salon (not mentioning the name for now)

**I am looking for some advice regarding a situation with my wedding dress. I recently went to the salon for my first viewing after being told my dress was in, and I was devastated to find that it is far too large—I am practically drowning in it. It looks more like a US 6 or 8 than the size I ordered.**

**• The Order: My invoice and receipt clearly state a Size 2.**
**• The Change: The salon admitted they actually ordered a Size 4. They claimed the manufacturer recommended sizing up because one measurement (my bust) was "on the cusp."**
**• The Lack of Consent: They never called or emailed to consult me before making this change. I only found out when I saw how huge the dress looked in person.**

**• The Backstory: When I was measured in-store, we actually discussed this. The consultant recommended the Size 2 because my other measurements were smaller, and my bust measurement was only slightly over (notably, I was
wearing a padded bra during the measurement).**
**I am beyond upset. Because of the architectural nature of this dress (it has a structured basque waist and specific draping), these "extra" alterations to bring it down nearly two sizes are going to be extensive and potentially change the integrity of the design.**

**1. Is it standard practice for a salon to override a signed contract/invoice size without the bride’s permission?**
**2. At a $10k price point, should I be demanding they re-order the correct size or cover the (now much higher) alteration costs?**
**3. For anyone who has worked with Australian designers—have you ever had to rush order a replacement? How long did that take and was the quality maintained?**
**I'm feeling really discouraged and worried about the timeline. Any insight would be appreciated!**

Grooms side of family is paying for half of wedding. My family is paying for other half

Mil has completely overstepped on every detail. The guest list, she is inviting extremely distant relatives my fiancé has not seen in decades, and complaining she can’t invite her friends, while she has significantly more people than anyone. I can tell our vendors are completely frustrated with her as she is never happy, always has 1000 comments, changes her mind. There are a few things I held my ground on and the rest I don’t care about anymore and let her do what she wants. I am genuinely worried they will stop working with us it has got so out of control.

Also we are the same religion but their side is way more observant. I am genuinely worried she is going behind my back to add customs my fiancé and I do not want at the wedding.

My fiancé talked to her but would like advice on how to handle.

To add I told her she can have the ceremony exactly how she wants it even though anyone my side is inviting will have no idea what is going on , and it willl be in another language. I said however the reception will be a secular reception , and she threw a fit. My fiancé said the same to her and said we are an embarrassment to her. My mom also stopped giving input because she can’t take it anymore but agrees since she is paying for half the wedding she wants the reception how my fiancé and I do.

I am not excited for this event anymore , an just want it to be over as it feels like she is the bride.
