I used to use Line on iPhone, a while back, logging in with my phone number. I just tried to reinstall it for some old contact info, and it says that my country can no longer use phone number to verify. The only other verification option I get is to use my Apple account, but I never linked my Line account to my Apple account before, and when I try to verify using Apple it acts as though I am creating a whole new account. Am I just locked out of my old account forever?

Seekers of Adoulin came out during a period where I was not playing the game (I quit during the 75 era), and from reading about the job I had a very different idea of what it was going to be like. The idea of a positioning-based support seemed like such a unique idea to me. I remembered the positioning aspects of Bard during the 75 era (standing at different ranges as to give different songs to various party members) and I thought GEO would be an evolution of that system that really took positioning to a new level that was previously unexplored in the battle system.

I imagined setting up various zones of influence around the battlefield, giving alliance members incentive to stand in certain places and move around to make use of various buffs, and luring the enemy around to different spots to adjust its debuffs. Basically putting the player in the position of an FF14 raid boss by putting all sorts of crazy stuff on the battlefield, but turning that idea on its head as a support job. It seemed like such a cool idea.

The reality could not have been more disappointing to me. You only get 3 active effects total and only one of them is free-standing and not tied to the position of a player (which is barely different from how BRD and COR work). 98% of all the spells are useless because there’s really only 4 effects you want all crowded around where the fight is happening. GEO even gets a unique line of AoE spells but really isn’t effective as an AoE nuker anyway. So much of the positioning stuff that sounded so cool in my head really only amounts to (ironically) making GEO actually less mobile and more clunky than a BRD or COR. Sure the demand is high, but that’s only because the effects of Geomancy spells are so strong, not because it’s providing utility that’s fundamentally different from the other supports.

Maybe I am just getting mad at a phantom in my head, and I shouldn’t have expecting anything that new and revolutionary in FFXI to begin with. But I just wanted to vent a little and complain that instead of making a new unique support, they kind of just made the same thing again. Only you Magic Burst between support spells instead of whack and mob and shoot. Oh well.

I kinda have a handle for progression on light DD jobs. Working towards Malignance for TP, Nyame for WS and building various sets around the important utility moves. I’ve been collecting gear for SCH and GEO which I have at 99 but I haven’t actually used in an actual party as of yet. I understand that you want a FC pre-cast set, people have recommended Pinga but that’s Su1 so I can’t equip it. I know that for SCH you want Enhancing skill for Regen and for GEO you are trying to reach a minimum Handbell + Geomancy skill, and get Dunna.

I am aware of all the guides out there (the SCH ones seem outdated though), but what I am mostly unclear about is what I need at MINIMUM to be able to confidently join PUGs and not waste people’s time. Beyond that I don’t care if my progression is slow. Right now what I have for those 2 jobs are, SCH AF+3 set from Vana’bout, various GEO JSE that increases Geomancy or Handbell skill, Jhakri +2 and RSE+1. I have enough Mellidopt Wings to buy any Telchene pieces, and I have enough Domain Points to buy pretty much anything from there.

The catch is that signing this contract also causes a magical website to pop into existence, that can be found and accessed by anyone just like a normal website. This website shows your full name, a reference photo of you, and an up-to-the-minute feed of everything you do online. Your entire browsing history is viewable, every search you make, every page you go to and everything you click on. Anything you post online will appear on this feed as well, regardless of what name you post it under or if it’s an anonymous submission. It is all dated and timestamped, and archived forever. Everyone who views this site understands that it is genuine and reflects your actual browsing. The website magically pulls information that was intentionally accessed by you specifically. If you use someone else’s device, your activity still appears on the site. If someone else uses your device, what they do won’t show up. However, if you coerce or pay someone to browse on your behalf, it will still show up on the site as your activity. Pop-ups, misleading links or things sent to you without your consent will not be counted, so you won’t get in trouble because someone else sent you something illegal.

The only exception, the only thing that will censored when showing up on the website, is sensitive official data that could doxx you or someone else. So you don’t have to worry about accidentally revealing your bank account numbers, passwords, your medical records, your phone number or your home address. You don’t have to worry about blowing other people’s privacy, broadcasting insider company info, breaking an NDA or ruining a business deal. Some of this information could still be gleamed from your other activity though. For example if you search things like “earthquake just now Tucson Arizona,” people might be able to figure out you are staying there. If you are searching “how does the stock market work” right before a business meeting, the person you are dealing with might lose confidence in you.

The website lasts forever and persists after you die, as long as there is anyone left to remember who you are. Do you sign the contract?

Evaluating what gear is good now. Back in the classic era it was so easy to determine what gear was good for because the only stats listed on it were important. Now with iLevel 119 every piece of gear has 40+ to all attributes, accuracy, magic accuracy and other stuff and I just can’t tell what’s good any more. Even if I look to see they one piece has 49 INT vs 51 INT I can’t be sure if the two points in Magic Acc balance it out or not. Plus some pieces have augments so i have to look those up and re-compare after factoring those in. My storage is full to the brim of gear (mostly Geas Fete, some Dyna D) that I have gotten from AMAN Trove and Gobbiebox where I just have no idea if it’s worth keeping.

People will be able note the similarities between you and the chosen artist, but your style will never be accused of being overly derivative or a ripoff (unless you copy their specific pieces).

You will never be able to acquire fame or money as an artist based on your technical proficiency alone. It will still be possible for you to become a well-regarded artist or earn money from your art, but it must be based on the strength of your ideas and not your technical skill.

You cannot refuse the choice.
