Shadow Gap Drywall Base // Skirting

Hi everyone, I’m in the middle of renovating a house and most of the drywall is already down, so I figured this might be the right time to consider drywall shadow gaps.

I’ve been seeing this look a lot more over the past 1–2 years and really like the clean, modern finish. For those who have used them or installed them:

  1. What’s the general consensus on drywall shadow gaps? Do they still look good in person, and are they worth the extra work and cost?
  2. Any recommendations for good suppliers? I’ve found some options here in the US, but I’ve also seen similar profiles on AliExpress and other overseas sites. The project should start in about 2–3 weeks, so I may still have time to order them now.

I attached a picture of the look I’m going for. Any advice or experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would like any feedback please for our new home.

I would like some feedback, as we just bought at house and looking to renovate and create a better space.

Attach you will fine the original plan and the second, the one that my wife created.

Some of the priorities we're trying to balance:

  • Open kitchen, dining, and living areas
  • Good separation between the master suite and kids' rooms
  • Dedicated office space
  • Guest bedroom if possible
  • Adequate laundry and storage space
  • Efficient use of hallways and circulation areas
  • Overall feeling of openness without wasting square footage

We're open to constructive criticism and alternative layout ideas. If you were starting from either of these plans, what would you change and why?

Appreciate any feedback

Looking for feedback on our floor plan redesign.

Looking for feedback on our floor plan redesign.

I'm attaching two versions:

  1. The original builder floor plan
  2. A modified version my wife created

Our goal is to maximize the use of the approximately 2,100 sq ft living area while maintaining a natural flow and an open-concept feel. We are a family with children, so functionality, storage, and day-to-day livability are important to us.
