Looking at a very cheap 15-91. The current owner can turn the handwheel and the needle moves up and down. They're not able to do much else.
The brown line that runs up the pillar next to the motor looks like sprayed oil or grease. Is a replacement easy to come by? Would there be other things to look for
While waiting for my new (to me) Singer to arrive I decided to try sewing Dacron with my Riccar 515 S from the 80s or 90s.
Using a 100/16 needle and V69 thread and the top thread tension maxed out, I just can_not tighten up the stitches on the back. Even just one layer. The frustrating thing is that I was sewing heavy canvas the other day with I have no idea what for needle and thread and if you look at the far right row of stitches, it's not too bad. And way thicker. Am I asking too much from my MIL's trusty old domestic machine?
Since I changed spool and bobbin may be someone can spot an error in my threading.
