Shriver house 2026

During the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863, Confederates took over the evacuated Shriver house and used it as a sharpshooters’ den. After the battle, the Shriver family returned to find their home ransacked and heavily damaged. A neighbor, James Pierce, confirmed seeing sharpshooters in the attic, while another neighbor stated that two had been killed inside.

Yesterday, I had the honor of shooting out of the exact same window the sharpshooters would have used 163 years prior.

Pitzers Woods 2026

My first living history event at Gettysburg. Wet all weekend but still had fun. Had a pair of skunks 🦨 visit us last night.

Can’t wait to do the Shriver house next weekend on the 4th.

Updated uniform

- Swapped out for more period correct suspenders.
- Federal capture belt, cap box, and cartridge box
- Plaid shirt with PERIOD CORRECT BUTTONS cause someone really gave me crap about that

Looking to get a Richmond Depot type two, federal Haversack, and a Tin Drum canteen

I would love for more feedback

Alternative aging methods

Hello, I’m just getting into reenacting. I got this “off-white” shirt from a sutler. But it is white AF, what are some good methods to age a shirt other than rolling in dirt? What are some good ways to darken leather as well? Any advice will be very helpful to further look into what I need for my kit. I’m trying to go for early war generic.

My first impression

Just getting into reenacting, I finally got the last pieces for the uniform part. Will be getting leathers and other gear from my unit.

First event is tomorrow, wish me luck!

Getting into reenacting, bought these in Gettysburg today.

Is this the best I can get accuracy wise? Any way to make these look better? Already replaced the synthetic shoestrings with a dark cow hide

Maybe stain the stitching?

Of course wearing the shit out of them will probably be the best way

Hello!

I’m looking about getting into reenactment and need to get some gear. Already found a decent CS frock coat.

Thinking about heading to Gettysburg in the morning to check out all of the sutlers out there. What suggestions do you guys have?

A coworker has this rifle and these were the only two pics he has of them

Made an 1864

Two barrel bands

Smoothbore

I was thinking it was an 1842 Springfield, but it’s shorter

doesn’t necessarily look like a 1853 Enfield
