My first BMW... Nervously optimistic

I've never had any German car, always been a bit scared to dip into them. But this 94 530i V8 5 speed popped up locally and I had to have it. I've always adored the E34 from the sidelines but never found one that was V8 and manual until now. I'm a little bit bummed it's the baby engine, but also somewhat excited for the pure weirdness of it, at least in the US.

I drove it home with no clutch (bad master) and one tire that was old enough to drink, but it made it without any hiccups and I'm over the moon to finally play with one of these things. It needs a lot of time and love put into it, but even during the less than ideal drive home I was smiling ear to ear in it! Should be a fun endeavor nursing it back to health! I hope at least...

Maybe I just got lucky?

I worked at UPS as a PT Driver / insider back in VT for just under 12 years. The pay was good as were the benefits, but it came time to head west and I couldn't get back in with big brown in my new spot as transferring is a nightmare.

I applied for an Express gig and got it, I'm 6 weeks in now and I have to say, the company culture here is WAY better. My managers are all friendly, and they seem to genuinely care or at least fake it well. The trucks are varying, some of the Reaches are pretty tired but the Sprinters are amazing compared to the clapped stuff I was used to. The max stop count I've had has been exactly 100... I'm usually home by 4:30-5 at the latest and I don't find myself dreading the next day. I actually have a night life for the first time in my adult years

The Forge BS and the Leo have been by far the most frustrating part of the entire job. Learning to work around it's flaws and quirks made our DIADs seem incredible... But beyond that I'm just happier here. The pay is rough comparably yes, but the peace of mind has been incredible. Maybe I just had an especially bad building at UPS, and an especially good one here. But hell I'm really enjoying it so far!

I know ground is a whole different ball game of hell, but until my building inevitably merges for 2.0 I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts! It's the same job without all the micromanagement insanity of UPS. At least in my station anyway

Tried out a 26 Tacoma TRD OR, it just made me like this thing more!

Coming from a previously die hard Toyota guy, I just didn't care for the 4th Gen. I was really skeptical about buying a Nissan, but compared to the new Tacoma I'd have the Frontier a million times over and I'll be keeping this one for a long time.

The Taco was so unbelievably loaded with tech in comparison to my truck, which for some might be great, but for me I prefer the bare basics. I disliked the digital gauges, and the driving nannies were pretty damn annoying. The visibility looking out was also terrible imo. Interior also looks like a nightmare to clean and scratches insanely easily. Good looking for sure, but a pain to maintain. The little 4 banger admittedly didn't lack any power, it was actually pretty impressive! But the sound it makes in the cabin is just bad compared to the V6 we have. I found the seats to be less than amazing as well, plenty of adjustment and the heated part was great. But I was uncomfortable the entire time I was in it.

For people into higher tech truly modern trucks, the Tacoma is probably a great pick. But if you're just looking for a basic thing to get you around and haul your crap, I think the Frontier in base trim at least, is a no brainer. I bought mine because it felt like the spiritual successor to my 1st Gen Tacoma and the price was right. And at least you get a rear door that actually opens on our king / access cabs...
