Who's the NPC you dislike the most???
One bright morning, Uncle Jiang walked into the training courtyard and called out:
Uncle Jiang:
"Mile Hour is up! Time to get moving!"
Still buried under his blanket, the Young Master yawned and replied:
Young Master:
"I'm still growing over here... Heroes need sleep too, you know."
Uncle Jiang smiled but shook his head.
Uncle Jiang:
"If you waste the morning, the morning wastes you. Every sunrise is a chance to become stronger. Get up and train!"
The Young Master sighed, rubbed his eyes, and slowly got out of bed. After a tough training session, he realized he felt more energetic and confident than before.
By the end of the day, the Young Master understood that greatness isn't built by sleeping through opportunities it is built through discipline and consistent effort.
The morning rewards those who rise with purpose. Discipline today creates the hero of tomorrow.
Instead i Ended Up Uncovering A Story About Betrayal Revenge Political Intrigue Family Tragedy And A Man Who Spent Years Preparing To Kill An Emperor.
By The Time I Finished The Quest I Realized I Wasn't Exploring A Palace.
I Was Walking Through The Shattered Memories Of A Man Who Had Lost Everything.
And Honestly
After Learning The Full Story i Think Han Wei Might Be One Of The Most Tragic Characters In Where Winds Meet.
to understand what happened inside kaifeng palace we first need to go back to the day big zhao became emperor
the previous ruler had died leaving behind a seven year old child to inherit the throne
in an era where warlords constantly fought each other for power that was basically an invitation for chaos
at the time big zhao commanded the imperial guard
when reports arrived that enemies were invading from the north he marched out with his army
but before reaching the battlefield something unexpected happened
his own soldiers placed a yellow imperial robe on his shoulders and begged him to take the throne
normally moments like this ended with massacres executions and rivers of blood
instead big zhao did something few rulers of his era would have done
before returning to claim power he forced his soldiers to swear three promises
β’ do not harm civilians
β’ do not loot property
β’ do not touch the former emperor's family
for a military coup that was almost unheard of
and for the most part those promises were actually kept
almost nobody died
almost.
while most people accepted the new regime one man refused
General Han
he stood against the new emperor
before big zhao could even make a decision one of his sworn brothers took matters into his own hands
general han and his entire family were slaughtered
everyone died
except one person
Han Wei
and that single survivor would eventually become the greatest threat to the emperor himself
years earlier han wei had left home and joined a secret intelligence organization
through his connections he learned that a coup was coming
he desperately sent a warning to his father
but the warning arrived too late
when han wei finally returned home there was nothing left
Nno family
No future
No place to return to
Only graves
Big zhao publicly honored the dead
Be arranged a proper burial
He showed respect
But he never truly punished the man responsible
for han wei that changed everything
from that moment forward revenge became the reason he woke up every morning
for two years han wei quietly prepared
instead of attacking directly he spread a rumor throughout kaifeng
a dangerous rumor
people began whispering that big zhao had secretly built a hidden treasury overflowing with unimaginable wealth
naturally every thief dreamer criminal and opportunist wanted to find it
but the treasure was never the real target
the treasure was bait
while everyone chased gold
han wei planned to kill an emperor
this is where the player enters the story
you arrive in kaifeng and quickly become tangled in the conspiracy
people mistake you for one of the skilled thieves searching for the hidden vault
you sneak into the imperial palace
and almost immediately end up in prison
which somehow turns out to be the beginning of the real adventure
inside the palace jail you meet the kaifeng prefect
big zhao's younger brother
the two of you strike a deal
while everyone else searches for treasure
you begin investigating who created the rumors in the first place
and the deeper you dig
the stranger everything becomes
eventually i managed to enter the legendary vault that had everyone talking
and surprisingly
the treasure was real
huge chambers filled with gold and wealth beyond imagination
for a moment i thought the rumors were true
maybe big zhao really had become the greedy ruler everyone accused him of being
but the deeper i investigated the more things stopped making sense
if this treasure was meant for personal luxury
why was it hidden so carefully that even senior officials barely knew about it
something felt off
and i was about to find out why
while exploring the palace i crossed paths with a mysterious woman dressed in black
her name was Jingniang
and honestly she became one of the most interesting characters in the entire story
she wasn't there to steal treasure
she wasn't there to gain power
she was there for the truth
years earlier big zhao had rescued her and protected her when nobody else would
he even taught her swordsmanship
because of that she respected him deeply
but when rumors started spreading that he had become corrupt she refused to blindly believe anyone
if big zhao had truly become a monster
she wanted to be the one who stopped him
that alone made me respect her character
she wasn't loyal to a person
she was loyal to what was right
eventually the secret finally came out
and honestly it completely changed how i viewed big zhao
the treasury wasn't built for luxury
it wasn't built for greed
and it definitely wasn't built to make the emperor richer
the entire treasury existed for one purpose
to recover lost territory and secure peace for the nation
if negotiations succeeded the money would be used to buy back the land
if negotiations failed the treasury would fund the war needed to reclaim it
suddenly everything made sense
the reason the vault was hidden wasn't because it was shameful
it was because revealing its existence could create political chaos
at that moment i realized the rumors were never about exposing the truth
they were about manipulating people
after discovering the truth the zhao brothers came up with a strange plan
they hosted a massive banquet
and invited all the thieves
yes
literally all of them
which sounds about as normal as the police inviting criminals to dinner
but somehow everyone showed up
including han wei
hidden among the guests
waiting for the perfect moment
then everything went wrong
his assassination attempt failed
and suddenly the entire palace was dragged into something far more dangerous
using a mysterious illusion technique han wei trapped everyone inside a strange realm known as the confinement tower
this wasn't just a magical prison
it was his mind
his pain
his anger
his hatred
made real
every floor represented an accusation against big zhao
every challenge reflected years of resentment
every puzzle revealed another layer of the tragedy that had consumed han wei's life
for years he had convinced himself that big zhao was a tyrant
a monster
the man responsible for everything he lost
but the deeper i climbed
the more that image started to fall apart
and this was the moment that hit hardest
because it wasn't a battle
it was a conversation
a painful one
big zhao revealed why the killer of han wei's family was never properly punished
he didn't see the massacre as the act of one evil man
he saw it as the result of a broken era
an era filled with endless war revenge and bloodshed
his goal wasn't revenge
his goal was creating a world where tragedies like that would stop happening
for the first time in years
han wei was forced to confront something terrifying
what if the man he hated wasn't actually the villain
what if the emperor was genuinely trying to create peace
and what if killing him would destroy everything
Even after everything
one final battle remained
and what a battle it was
the boss wasn't actually big zhao
it was something far more interesting
the lone tyrant
the version of big zhao that existed inside han wei's imagination
the monster he had spent years creating in his own mind
every attack felt brutal
every phase felt epic
and knowing the story behind the fight somehow made it even better
because i wasn't fighting the emperor
i was fighting hatred itself
when the illusion finally shattered
han wei was arrested
the palace was safe
and the crisis was over
but unlike many stories this one didn't feel simple
han wei wasn't evil
his pain was real
his grief was real
and honestly
if i had lost my entire family i don't know if i would have handled it any better
that's what makes this quest so memorable
there are no cartoon villains
no obvious heroes
just people trying to live with impossible choices
in the end big zhao didn't defeat han wei through force
he defeated him with the possibility of peace
and somehow that's far more powerful
