Being Tom Cruise

Hi all,

Today is actor Tom Cruise's 64th birthday! And what better way to celebrate than to Be Tom Cruise?

According to Wikipedia, when director Spike Jonze showed the script for Being John Malkovich to various producers, the response he received was "Why the fuck can't it be Being Tom Cruise?"

Well... now it can!

This edit is a 4 in 1 FanMix of Being John Malkovich, Eyes Wide Shut, Vanilla Sky, and Magnolia, with a few real life clips of Tom Cruise sprinkled throughout. As you may have guessed, I have completely removed John Malkovich and all references of John Malkovich from the movie Being John Malkovich (except for a small cameo) and replaced all of them with Tom Cruise. I have kept the chronology and events of the movie Being John Malkovich mostly the same with some minor changes.

Runtime: 1 hour and 41 minutes

Quality: HD h.265

I have moved all of my edits from Google Drive (free) to MEGA (subscription). With so much available file space now, I have uploaded uncompressed higher-bitrate versions of all my previous edits. Going forward, I will share both the compressed versions (usually around 1.5-2 gigs) for those who prefer small file sizes, and the higher bitrate uncompressed versions (6-8 gigs) for those who seek better picture quality. No need to specify which version you want, they will both be linked in the same folder. :)

You can DM me for a link, this edit will also be made available on the FEC database. I would be honored to receive any feedback or critiques, positive or negative, as I am always looking to improve my editing.

25 Days of Christmas Project Invitation

Hi all,

I had an idea pop into my head recently, and I wanted to share it and see if the community has any interest. From 2001-2015, The ABC Family network hosted a "25 Days of Christmas" event annually where from Dec 1st-25th a different Christmas movie was broadcast each day. There have been other networks/affiliates that have held the same or similar countdowns in the past.

What if the fanediting community did the same thing?

Concept: 25 faneditors agree to create 25 Christmas/Holiday themed fanedits (1 per editor) and release one each day from Dec 1st-25th.

If enough people are interested, I (or perhaps someone more qualified) can circulate a spreadsheet where editors can mark their name down for any of the 25 days. In the event that more than 25 people are interested, I think it would be perfectly fine to have more than 1 on certain days, or if we're a bit short, a 15 or 20 day countdown could suffice.

I think now is the perfect time to start this project as it gives everyone about 6 months to prepare.

If you are interested in contributing, please comment or send me a DM.

Happy editing!

The Dark Knight: The Concise Cut

Hi all,

This is a 3 in 1 FanMix of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy.

Goals: Take what I believe are the best pieces of the trilogy and streamline them into a single coherent film under 3 hours. The chronology, events, and conclusions have been heavily altered. As with all of my concise cuts, this is not intended to be a faithful retelling of the original work.

Major Cut List:

Batman Begins has Bruce missing in action for 7 years. The Dark Knight Rises has Bruce/Batman missing for 8 years. Streamline this into the same time gap. Have all of the villains occurring on the same timeline. As crazy as this may sound, I think it works perfectly because everyone except Joker and Two-Face ultimately tie back to Ra's al Ghul.

Remove Maggie Gyllenhaul's Rachel. I never like it when an actor/actress is changed between movies, and I never liked the Harvey Dent love Triangle. This takes up an excessive amount of runtime in the Dark Knight. I have trimmed Katie Holmes portrayal of Rachel down to what I believe is "essential" to the plot.

Remove Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character aside from a small cameo. I didn't feel this character's story line was important enough to retain.

Remove Talia al Ghul. I have kept a couple scenes of Miranda Tate, but I have completely removed anything tying her back to Ra's.

Remove any reference to Bruce walking with a cane or having his back broken. I never liked the idea that Bruce was a hobbled old man who on a whim returns to full time crime fighting, and then magically climbs out of a bottomless pit just a couple days? weeks? after having his vertebrae re-aligned. I don't think any of this is necessary and in my opinion it undermines the symbolism and narrative because of how far-fetched it comes across.

Remove unnecessary exposition and flashbacks. I have tried to consolidate the entire build up of Bruce becoming batman into around 20 minutes of what I believe is the "essential exposition" and then added tiny pieces of backstory here and there as the movie progresses wherever it felt natural to include. I have tried to cut out anything that felt repetitive in the films.

I expect this will be controversial, but I don't think every superhero movie needs every loose end tied up, or needs every story to end happily ever after. I believe I have struck a balance between giving the audience a sense of closure while also allowing the story to be somewhat open ended. I wanted to honor the realism that the films strive for, and realistically I don't think Gotham deserves a perfectly happy ending.

Length: 2 hours and 47 mins

Quality: HD h.265
