I am so bad at this

Just a bit of a rant here. I've been in sales for 10 years, I got lucky at 20 and a company hired me for a professional full cycle sales role, I hit some early big wins due to dumb luck and made like $80k for a few years. Got to travel a lot for work seeing places I'd never been to, I had to come up with creative solutions for my clients which was a lot of fun. That company dissolved during covid, it was a small business.

So since then I've hopped from job to job, having absolutely no success. A good month here or there, but that's it. You'd think after a decade of cold calling that I'd have picked up the skills to at least be average but no, and honestly I don't like it. I got laid off again a few months ago, and finding a job has been a bit tougher now, but the thought of even going back and trying this again just has me miserable.

But I'm stuck, sales is the only real experience on my resume, I don't have a degree. I'm gonna apply for jobs and cold call some hiring managers again today because that's what I know how to do, but I'm really not looking forward to it.

Did Indeed change their filters?

So it used to be that I could choose to search remote jobs in my state - which is useful because most remote roles only hire in specific areas. That seems completely gone now. I can search my entire state as the location, but can no longer select "Remote" as a filter, only hybrid or in-person.

It's making the job search pretty annoying because now I have to sift through tons of remote roles that are limited to states I don't live in. Maybe I'm missing something here?

Commission only/1099

I was in B2B tech sales for about 7 years, started as SDR, eventually moved up, but earnings were never that great, like $80k. It was comfortable since I worked from home and live in an affordable city, but not glamorous.

Anyway I got laid off a few months back and I don't want to jump into an SDR role for $40,000 with weak commission, I've applied and interviewed for a couple of AE roles but nothing solid so far.

I interviewed for a sales role with a company looking to hire on commission only. It's a legitimate company, successful, not door-to-door or some low effort pyramid scheme selling knives to widows. And the commission plan is strong - solid up-front payment on closed deals + residuals.

I'm looking for a realistic perspective into this type of role because I've never done it, I always assumed they were scams/snake oil, and until now I've never had enough money in the bank to even consider a role with no base even if I wanted to. What has your experience been like with commission roles? If you had any success, how long did it take?

Been playing Fox almost exclusively since release, she can get huge damage and still put out decent healing. But some games I'll have really great stats but can't tell if I'm just inflating the numbers and doing more harm than good. I'll post my most recent loss as an example of big stats, but underwhelming results.

In a game like this I don't know if I should be switching, or if I'm playing too scared, any feedback is appreciated.

I had a first round interview yesterday - it was very casual, I could tell we got along, the job was a great fit and so was my experience. At the end the guy said he'd reach out in a few days if they wanted to move forward to round 2. Less than 2 minutes after the call he emailed me and said: "we loved you as a candidate, can you do the round 2 interview tomorrow?"

So I said yes, felt very confident. This morning I get on for the interview and immediately the guy is not sounding excited. He only asked me 3 questions: what I like about sales, what I don't like, why I'm switching careers. I ask 2 questions and then he says if I don't hear from him with an answer by Monday afternoon I should reach out.

And that was it. Now I'm confused as hell. I was on time, I didn't say anything weird, but right out of the gate I couldn't tell if this guy was just VERY casual or if he absolutely did not want to hire me and was rushing off the call.
