Is regional review bombing a legitimate concern when deciding what regions to localize for?
I'm debating some budgeting for my current project and am thinking through which regions I plan to localize for. I'm going back and forth on whether to localize for regions like China, that have a bit of a reputation for review bombing. I've seen several indie games (Slay the Spire 2 most prominently) that got massively review bombed by Chinese players due to balance changes they didn't like or for various other reasons. I plan to carefully monitor balance after releasing my game, specifically looking to hammer down any strategies that trivialize game mechanics, and am concerned a similar thing might happen to my game. Without the name strength of a game like StS2, I don't think my game could recover if it gets review bombed. Is this a legitimate concern, or am I jumping at shadows over this?
