Mixing hot pepper food with regular birdfood?

I've found that my birds love Wild Birds Unlimited's Fiery Feast blend, and it was pretty good of keeping the squirrels away. However, the 8-lb bags don't last very long, and the 20-lb bags are $75, even with a membership.

So my question(s):

  1. In an effort to keep costs down, is there any harm in blending an 8-lb. of WBU's Fiery Feast with a bag of regular bird food, in hopes of deterring squrriels?
  2. Would I be better off making my own spicy blend using cayenne pepper or chili powder?

This probably shouldn't bother me as much as it does, but I've sat in on my 2nd "live" webinar in the past couple of months and have just discovered that they're not really live. They were recorded live, but they host these recordings as "live" webinars on GoTo Meeting. The one today was awful. It was about AI in Storyline, and the facilitator struggled mightily to get image and text prompts to work.

It just feels disingenuous. There's no interaction with a producer or anything. Questions don't get answered. They suggest that you follow a link to their discussion boards, where you basically have to search for your questions.

It's very frustrating.
